K's Boo Boo

Well, Sunday was a very interesting day for us. It started out with me remembering that it was anniversary Sunday which meant no breakfast at SS, which meant we needed to eat at home, which meant we were not going to make it to SS. So I made chocolate chip muffins and we all got to sit down together and eat breakfast. Another set back: when I went to get K up, she had peed through her diaper and all over her bed. So I stripped her down, threw her in the tub, stripped her bed down, and put all that in the washer. We finally made it to church around 10:15 or so.

We hadn't been to church 10 minutes, when K's SS teacher came in the back of the audotorium with K and motioned me to come over. When I got over, I saw a gash on K's nose. Her teacher said she had been standing on the lid of a toy box (why was the lid in there? And K knows better anyway) and slipped and fell and hit her nose on the ledge under the window. While we were talking, I was watching it swell up and K was very groggy and her eyes were getting heavy. I was worried about how hard she might have hit her head, so as a pre-caution we decided to take her to the ER. So Daddy went to get C and we loaded up the car.
We didn't have to wait long at all in the waiting room. They checked her vitals (temp, heart, etc) and then put us in a room. That's where we waited. The nurse came; then we waited. The receptionist came; then we waited. The nurse came back; then we waited. The doctor came; then we waited. The nurse came back; we waited. The doctor came back; then we waited. Finally the nurse came and sent us home. Actually, it wasn't that bad. We were only there about an hour and a half total. But with 2 small kids, in a small exam room, with nothing to do, and limited TV choices--it seemed much longer.
Anyway. Back to K's boo boo. She had no signs or symptoms of a head injury for which we were very thankful. They just told us to keep an eye on her and to wake her a few times that night. As for the cut, they glued it shut (what a neat invention, compared to the many stiches I had as a child). They said the glue should help minimize scarring but there would still probably be a small one. And they warned us that she would probably get black eyes. She did so good the entire time they looked, cleaned, glued, etc. The only time she fussed (not really even cried) was when they put the glue on. She said it stung. (So the dr blew on it to help it dry--HELLO! what's with medical people?---another long story).
We got out of there about 12:30 and went to lunch (McAllister's Deli) and then home to naps. We gave K some motrin before her nap; she said she had a headache. That night we checked on her twice, at 11 and 2:30 and then Daddy checked on her when his alarm went off around 6:30. Each time, she woke just enough to tell us "I love you." So sweet!
Since then, she has been fine. Her one eye is turning kinda purple (you can't really tell in the pix) and it was a little swollen Monday morning. Funny side note: Sunday night for prayers she prayed for her nose and knee to get better. Daddy and I were puzzled by the knee request. The next morning when I got her dressed, I noticed 2 big black and blue marks on her shin. I was so concerned with her face that I hadn't noticed them before.
So here are pictures of my "bruiser" I'm sure this is not our last trip to the ER.

The first pix was taken Sunday and the last was today. You can kinda see the purple under her one eye. Her eyes have been kinda weepy too. Plus she has a cold so her nose has been runny, so I'm constantly wiping it. Poor girl.

PS: Why won't blogger save my returns between paragraphs???? I've tried a bazillion times! I even tried putting 3 or 4 retruns in there. Frustrating!

New toys

This post is a little late, but oh well. I want to remember, so bare with me.

The kiddies both got to pick something out from the store at the Children's Museum. C picked out a little Lego set. When we got home, he put it together all by himself. Daddy just did minimal supervision. Good job, C!

There really wasn't much there for K girl that was within our price range. So she didn't really get to pick. She got this magnet book with a lot of food magnets to tell the story with. She had fun playing with them on the fridge too.

AWANA Olympics

Our church participated in the Central Indiana AWANA Olympics. For those of you not familiar with AWANA, let me explain. Each church has a team(s) of clubbers that compete with other churches in specific games. This year we had a Sparks team (K-2), a boys team (3-6), and 2 girls teams (3-6). C was on the Sparks team and Daddy was the assistant coach. Daddy was also the head coach of the boys team. We had 3 practices on weeknights prior to Saturday (one of the reasons our last 2 weeks were so busy). I always go to the practices and end up helping. Gets me out of the house, the kids get to run around, and I have fun doing it.

Saturday morning we had to be at the church at 7:45 (remember my kiddies don't usually get up til 8). We were up early and even stopped at McD's for breakfast. C actually got to ride the bus with the rest of the team to the church were the competition was (about 45 min away). We had a friend ride with us--who K really likes. On the way there this friend said, "Does she always talk this much?" Oh dear! Unfortunately, yes. Poor friend.

Competition for the Sparkies was 6 games; some were individual and some were team games. I remember some of these games from when I was in AWANA! Since C is only in kindergarten, he only got participate in the team games. One of the games is called Sparky Crawl. All 4 teams line up on their color (each side of a square). When the horn is blown, the Sparkies crawl to the opposite side. So all the kids end up in the middles trying to get to the other side. It's chaos! My poor C couldn't get his crawler going right. His pants kept sliding, like he was spinning his wheels in the snow. He was the last one over each time. Poor guy! He's also the smallest on the team. But he sure tried hard.

Our team actually ended up getting first place on our circle (there were 2 circles going, with 7 teams on each circle) and second place over all. Daddy's boys got 2nd, which was really good considering he didn't have a full team and had to "borrow" boys from another church. One of our girls got second and the other got 3rd. Not too bad.

After Sparky competition in the morning, I took the kids home and Daddy stayed for the afternoon older kids competition. After he got home, we all went out to eat with friends to Longhorn. Yum! Then it was home, baths, and bed. It was a long day!

Sunday we had to go to Sunday School (isn't that horrible to say?)Italic because I had to bring breakfast. But Sunday night we were bad and stayed home. We all needed to just chill! Since March 8th we had been to church every night or day except the 2 Fridays! So far this week doesn't look to busy, but softball and baseball should start soon. I'm tired just thinking about it! But I love it!
Here they are getting ready for the Rabbit Hunt, or good-old-fashioned dodge ball. This is the mass confusion called the Sparky crawl. And C's "heat" only had 3 teams instead of 4!

K's flowers

For Valentine's Day, Daddy brought a single red rose home for me. K loved it as much as I did. She's a girl at heart. She was sad when we had to throw it away. She kept saying she wanted Daddy to bring her a flower home. So I made sure to pass the message on to Daddy. And also reminded him that it should probably be purple--K's favorite color.

So Friday night Daddy had to stop at the store to get buns for meatball subs. While he was there, he picked up--not just one--but 9 tulips for K girl. And they are a really pretty purple. She was so excited! She helped me cut them and put them in a vase. Every time she sees them, she wants to be held up to smell them. They smell really good.

Here you can kinda see how pretty they are, now that they have opened up (I like how she was posing--like I said, a girl at heart). She is so proud of those flowers. She's going to be devastated when we have to get rid of them. Oh well. What a sweet Daddy she has to bring her home flowers.

Easter Candy

OK. This is all Daddy's fault. One night he brought home some of this candy. Now I'm hooked. Every time I go to Wal-Mart I buy a 6 pack. I'm not sure if anyone else gets any, but they sure are good. If you like chocolate and peanut butter together, these are AWESOME! I'm sure they will help me lose weight, so I will keep eating them.

Airport Field Trip

Monday March 16th, we went on another field trip. This one was to a little, local airport. It's only a one-runway airport and is used mainly for locals and their private planes. When I set it up, my contact said that there wouldn't be much to cover for this age group. He said it would last about 20 minutes. But since it was free and wasn't too far away, I was OK with that.

Two other moms and their 3 kids met us there Monday morning. We started out watching a short video about the shuttle that had been launched by NASA the night before. Then we went out to the edge of the runway. He showed us the snow truck and explained some of its equipment. Then the kids actually got to get in a small airplane and look at all the controls. He explained a few things there and then we took a tour of the runways. We got in one of the airport trucks and rode out on the runway while he explained the lights and lines used for landings and take-offs. Then we drove to a hanger where an older gentleman was waiting to show us his plane. He had built this plane by himself! It took him about 4 years. We asked a few questions there and then went back to the office. He had goodies for the kids: a bouncy ball, a Frisbee, a Styrofoam plane, and some color sheets. All in all we were there almost an hour. The kids loved it! He might not have covered some of the technical stuff (we didn't even see the "control tower"), but the kids were able to get in a plane and that made it all worth it! The tour guide did an awesome job! I would definately go again--maybe in a year or two and we can take the "more technical" tour.

My new coffee maker!

The other day we got a big box in the mail and had no idea what it was. It came from Daddy's Mommy but it didn't look like her handwriting. Mysterious.

So Daddy opened it. Inside was a new coffee maker! Now this is no ordinary coffee maker. Daddy's sister had one at her house when we were there in January and I loved it! It is a Keurig Gourmet single cup personal brewer. It's really a neat system. There are over 200 varieties of coffee, tea, and hot chocolates to choose from for this system. There is no filter or grounds to deal with. For each cup, you choose a "K-cup" (in the picture they are the little creamer looking cups at the bottom beside the coffee maker), pop it in it's compartment, fill the water compartment up to the fill line, close it all up and push brew. Within 3 minutes, you have a fresh cup of coffee.

With the maker, we got 2 variety packs and a whole box of Nantucket Blend. It's really easy. The coffee is good. There's no mess. And it's kinda fun. I was so excited when we got it, but wasn't able to use it until Monday, due to our schedule. But I love it!

I did some checking on their website and I think you can purchase the K-cups at Target. Target just might not have all 200 choices. We will have to check it out. Too fun!

Direct TV

So we got a new TV, right? And it's a HD TV. But we didn't have HD programming through our satellite company (Dish Network). So I called Dish. We could upgrade and get some HD channels like ESPN, HGTV, the Food Network, etc. But they "are not offering local channels in HD at this time." And they had no date as to when (this fact becomes important later in this post). The local channels have NASCAR races, March Madness, Colts football--all the things that are so much better in HD. So why would I upgrade, but not get locals, and have no idea when I might?

So I called Direct TV. They offer HD locals in my area. Plus they have twice as many channels for close to the same price (100 with Dish vs 200 with Direct). And they were running a special of "no start up fees or up front cost" Just what I want. So we decided to switch.

#1: We signed up the beginning of March, but couldn't get an installation scheduled until March 12th. Hmmmm. Ok: not ideal, but we'll wait. I did get an email from them saying "sorry you had to wait. Here is a coupon for a free PayPerView movie"

#2: The guy came to hook it up Thursday March 12th. He was here FOREVER! He hooked up the receiver downstairs, the one upstairs, re-strung the wires outside, installed the new dish outside, gave me a "tutorial session" and then I signed my life away! He was really nice though.

#3: Not 3 hours after he had left, I started having issues with the picture. It would all of a sudden, lose the picture and go to a grey screen. It would stay grey for a few minutes and then the picture would come back. Hmmmm. So I called customer service (see side note on this at the end of this post). She helped me run some tests, yada-yada. And we thought we had it fixed. I set a show to tape for later that night, since we would be gone. We got home later and tried to watch that show and others (non-taped) and had the same issue.

#4: Friday morning while I was making breakfast, Daddy discovered it was even worse! So he called customer service (thus the reason we were late leaving for the Museum-see past post). After running a series of tests, it was decided that the receiver was bad. At this point, it was not working at all. So a new receiver was sent out to us. But all weekend long, we were without TV downstairs. Frustrating. But at least it was not March Madness weekend! And the lady kindly gave us a credit for 4 days of "no service."

#5: We got the receiver Monday-much faster than anticipated and Daddy hooked it up Monday night. Yeah! Hopefully all is now well.

#6: Daddy went into work Monday morning and had an email that said "Dish Network now offers local channels in your area" SERIOUSLY?!?!?! As of Thursday they didn't know when they were getting them and now they have them? Was I lied to? One small reason to stick with Direct TV.

side note: A huge reason I will stay with Direct TV is their customer service. Dish Network's Customer service was-for as long as I can remember-HORRIBLE and foreign. Direct TV was wonderful and located in Montana! That's in the good ol'e US of A! They spoke my language! So yes, I had a bumpy start with Direct TV but as of today (baring no more major issues) I will now be a loyal Direct TV customer.

Weber Grill

After we were done at the Children's Museum on Friday, we went out to eat at Weber Grill. It is a restaurant associated with the company that makes THE Weber Grills. Or as their website says "ENJOY DELICIOUS BURGERS, BARBECUE, STEAKS, SEAFOOD AND MORE GRILLED OVER CHARCOAL ON AUTHENTIC WEBER KETTLES" There are only 4 of these restaurants in the US. Daddy had been there once before and wanted to take us--so he could go back. I'm hooked! What a neat place to eat! And the food was AWESOME! It was a little on the expensive side, but it was worth it--and probably a once-in-a-lifetime chance for the kids.

Obviously most of their menu is stuff you can make on the grill, but the kids ordered pizza and it was fresh made. Actually the kids meals are well worth it, if your kids don't eat LESS than a bird (like mine). For $6 they got pizza, tator tots, broccoli covered in cheese, fruit, and a nice sized ice cream in a waffle bowl. And their drink was included.

Daddy got smoked sausage and brisket and I got brisket and meatloaf. Their meatloaf is very good. I would definitely go back, just maybe minus the kids next time. At least until they make it worth it to buy a kids meal.

For being a "grilling restaurant" it was very classy inside. They did have many different grills on display and this big grill on the outside of the restaurant. It was very good and I highly recommend it!

Spring Cleaning

Saturday morning my children did not wake up until 9 am! For those of you who know my kiddies, that is AMAZING! Especially C. Now K girl is more apt to sleep later, but not that late. Them sleeping late meant we got to sleep late too! Yeah! I haven't done that in a long time. I think we wore them out at the Children's Museum (see other post).

Sleeping late was a wonderful way to start our Saturday. We really didn't have many plans for the day--just cutting the boy's hair (YUCK). Daddy made us pancakes (chocolate chip for me) and the boys played PlayStation and Wii. K girl was playing here, there, and everywhere. I decided to start cleaning house, since I didn't have the chance on Friday (my usual cleaning day). I started in our bathroom and it turned into spring cleaning. I cleaned just about everything in there! Baseboards, cabinets, light fixtures, nitty-gritty stuff. I have 2 more things to do (the shower curtain and the spray head in the shower). As I kept going, the "spring cleaning bug" bit me. So I kept going. I dusted our bookshelves (no small feat), our ceiling fan, and some air return vents.

Then I made sure the bug bit Daddy. He went through all his clothes and got rid of his "fat" clothes. He got rid of two 30 gallon bags of clothes! Between him and the clothes that the kids have outgrown, I have a HUGE pile of clothes! I am going to try to sell some of the name brand stuff on eBay. I have a friend that does it all the time and makes good money. So we shall see. I'll keep you posted.

Between all this cleaning, I cut the boys hair and fed my kiddies. Daddy then grilled out hamburgers for dinner. YUM! What started out as a slow day--and what we had planned as a slow day--turned into a very productive day. It felt so good to get some stuff done! Now to finish what I've started.

Children's Museum

Friday, Daddy took off work and we went to the Indianapolis Children's Museum. There is a Lego's exhibit there that we really wanted to see. And we love going there. And it's been a long time since we had been there--K had just turned one the last time we were there!

We left a little later than anticipated, due to some TV difficulties (see future post). We got there around 10:30 or so and didn't leave the museum til close til 4 that afternoon. It was a long day, but we had so much fun.

There are 5 levels of stuff to see (one level was the store, ticket center, and food court-so really only 4) and you could spend hours on each level. The first level (which was actually the basement) had a whole train section with a real engine, a LOT of toy trains on display, a ticket counter (to sell train tickets) and ....

...what they call Fireworks of Glass. It is a massive amount of blown glass in all different shapes and colors. It's really pretty. K girl really liked this exhibit. They even had some that you could play with. The tower goes through the middle of the museum almost to the top level.

On this level they also had an "underwater" adventure and a entire section on mummies.

From the basement we went into the Dinosphere exhibit which is actually on 3 floors. There are skeletons, puzzles, places you can draw, displays, movies, the Dinosphere (kinda like a Planetarium but with dino stuff), a place the kids can do a "dig", and a Prep lab. K really liked this huge "nest" with eggs in it. She talked about it on the way home and it took us a little bit to figure out what she was talking about. The prep lab was pretty cool: they were actually working on real fossils. That was interesting to see.

The next level houses the "revolving" exhibits. Until May 3 there is a Lego exhibit and a Comic book exhibit. The Lego one was AWESOME! They had all kids of Lego's in there! All sizes. K loved building. She worked on a Princess castle. She actually cried when we had to move on. (For those of you needing birthday presents, take note. I think they are the "Duplo" brand of Lego's) There were some awesome displays in there too. Here is just one example. The entire dragon is made out of Lego's. Impressive!
There was also a slide, dress up costumes, magnets, and a "Lego video game" in this section. For the game, you designed your own catapult and tried to break down the castle wall. Pretty cool.

Then we went into the Comic book exhibit. There is actually one of the Batmobiles that was used for the new movies. That was really cool. And A LOT of comic books (according to the display, there was almost 20, 000!). I guess it was someone's collection that was donated to the museum. And all kinds of figurines, more dress up stuff, posters, movies, and more hands on stuff.

The next level has what they call the PlayScape, which is a lot of fun if all the other kids there are well supervised. You and I both know, that happens. It's more for K's age, but they both had fun. There's more dress up (K was a bee), a water table, a sand table, you can plant "flowers", a play house, some slides.... but all geared for littler ones. The other things on that level we skipped, cuz they are a little above my kiddies and K was getting very grumpy cuz it was nap time. So we went on up to the next level.

Up here was the Science Works, where once again, it's alot of fun if the other kiddies are supervised. There is a construction site with some machines that you can use and they have "dirt" to use. There were some older kids that were throwing the dirt. Ouch! We left that section quickly. But there were other cool things, like hulu hoops, buckets to walk on (remember these?)

They also had an oversized tic tac toe, and oversized connect four, checkers, Mr. Potato Head, video games (PS2, Xbox, Nintendo, etc). They also had a Biotechnology Learning Center. I think for the older kids, they explained DNA, but for my kids age it was much simpler. They got to plant seeds in plastic gloves. They soaked cotton balls with water and put them in the fingers of the glove. On each cotton ball they put a different seed. With sunlight and some air, these should grow in the glove. They are currently hanging in my kitchen window (nice curtains) and we will see. If they turn out well, I'll post their results. There is also a carousel on the top floor that we rode.

On our way out, we stopped by the cardboard construction Lego guys for pictures. Then we went to eat (see future post), stopped at Wal Mart for a few groceries, stopped at Best Buy, Target, and Game Stop looking for an extra Wheel to go with our new Mario Kart for the Wii. No one had it except Game Stop. Why didn't we just try there first? We finally got home around 7 pm. It was a long day, but we had so much fun! (And now this is a really long post!)

C and his Legos

C just recently got interested in Lego's. I think he only has maybe 4 sets and most of those are either Indiana Jones or Star Wars. Grandma just recently sent goodies to us all and C's was a new Lego set. It was a scuba diver, his jeep, and his jet ski. Daddy helped C put it all together, but thought C could have probably done it all on his own. C really likes this set. In fact, he said so far it his favorite (but ya know, that could change tomorrow).

Here are some pix to show off the set and my cute little (but growing like a weed) boy.

Yeah for shopping!

For those that know me well, you know I am not the world's best shopper. Meaning, it's not something I love to do. I enjoy it occastionally, especially when we have tax return money to spend. So all that to say, Saturday we spent the entire day shopping. We had a few things on our list that were needs (C's new socks) and a few wants (me a new Easter outfit). I also wanted to find the kiddies Easter outfits, but that didn't happen. I'm still looking. We came home with other stuff too, but got a lot of good deals.

Here is a list of what I can remember that we bought: K a new dress; C jeans, socks, cleats for baseball, 4 long sleeved T's; Daddy 2 new dress shirts, jeans, pants, socks, new Crocs (I think he's a little addicted), racketball glasses; Me a whole new outfit! skirt, 2 piece top, shoes ($70 shoes for $7), Bath and Body. We had a lot of bags when we got home! Poor K girl only got one thing, which is really unusual. Usually, she has the most stuff (girls are so much fun to buy for). I think all in all, we all made out really good. We also went out to eat and got the car washed. You'll have to wait til my Easter post to see my outfit. One hint: it's hot pink!

*Now I hope I can find Easter stuff for the kiddies. I also would like to get Daddy a new suit. Since he lost all his weight, his old one doesn't fit*

Foreign Chocolate

Our church is having a bus and soul winning conference this week. We have invited various churches in the area to come and are expecting around 300 guests. One of the guests came a long way to be here. He came all the way from Ireland! He is a convert of one of our church missionaries to Ireland. He has been here once before and really connected with our church.

After Sunday morning church, we stood talking to the church secretary in the lobby. He came up to ask her a few questions. We all then got involved in a conversation with this gentleman from Ireland. He's a really nice guy. He was even kidding around with my kiddies. C later commented that he had an accent. It's not really a strong accent, but just enough to be noticed.

We stood talking so long that the church had pretty much cleared out. This gentleman asked Daddy if our kiddies liked chocolate. Yes, of course. He said he had a present for them and could we wait while he went to get it? He brought back 2 boxes and a bag of candy. The bag of candy was for Daddy and I: caramels and coconut something-or-anothers. Each of my kiddies got a box of candy. It looks like a large box, but actually there wasn't much candy in it. There was a large, hallow, chocolate egg and 2 tubes of these smarties. These smarties are not like our "American" smarties. These were chocolate, covered in a fruity-like coating. Nice thing--there were no artificial colors or flavors in them. The smarties had an interesting taste, but the chocolate was very good.
It was very nice of him to give them to my kiddies and it was a fun experience to try new candy. I also tried to read the side of the box. Even the calorie section is set up very different from what we are used to. I am planning on having the kids send him a thank you note; but I want to wait til he's back home and have it sent to Ireland.

C has learned about many different countries this year in school and seemed very interested to learn about all the differences. (One of the countries he learned about was Kenya and he still asks what the temperature is there today--so Daddy checks on his iTouch) So after lunch, we got out the big world map to point out Ireland and show C where it is in relation to some of the other countries he has learned about. So despite having no school Sunday, it was a very educational day.

Here is a picture of the candy that we got. Kinda fun!

C's socks

My poor C. We just bought him some new dress socks on Saturday (see future post regarding shopping). When I got home and compared his old socks to his new socks---my poor C! I can't believe he was still wearing those old ones! And not complaining! Well now he has 3 new pairs.

Here is a picture of the old versus the new--notice how small the old ones were. I'm thinking they would even be too small for K. I think they are size 2T. Poor guy!

K's ear

Thursday night as K was giving out good night kisses, we heard a pop that sounded like it came from her ear. When I looked in her ear with a flashlight, I could see the tube. But it was just far enough back that there was no way I could reach it. When we asked her if her ear hurt, she just said it sounded funny. I spent Friday trying to get her an appointment with someone, her pediatrician or the ENT that put the tubes in. The pediatrician didn't want to touch the issue since they didn't put the tubes in. The ENT couldn't see me until March 16, unless I wanted to drive 2 hours to his other office. I was not comfortable with waiting that long! I don't want her hearing messed up! So I called her peds doctor back and they agreed to see her and see if they could help.

Her appointment was Tuesday afternoon (after Wal Mart, errands, and lunch with Daddy). The doctor said that the tube was sitting in her canal but not touching her ear drum. But the doctor couldn't get it out. So we now have an appointment with a new ENT on Friday. Hopefully this new doctor will take it out. I just don't like the fact that it is just sitting in there.

While we were there, I mentioned to the doctor that C has had a horrible cough for a few days and he has also had diarrhea every morning after breakfast for 4 days now. She didn't seem worried; we just need to let both run its course. We'll get worried if he still has issues in 6 more days. I am sooooo ready for spring to come and all these health issues to GO AWAY!

Our new TV

Saturday morning I went downstairs to turn cartoons on for the kiddies. As soon as the TV clicked on, it made a horrible, high-pitched sound, but had no picture. Not even snow. As I kept saying to Daddy, I hate the fact that we have to say we NEED a new TV. But since I homeschool using a DVD program, we need 2 TVs--one upstairs for school and the one downstairs to watch. We could have moved the upstairs TV to the downstairs, but then C would have to do school downstairs. We have tried that before and it is NOT fun. We could have gone out and bought a small TV/DVD combo, but they usually are not really worth it. These are all the ideas that we discussed Saturday morning while trying to figure out what to do. Buying a new TV is fun, but NOT when you have to buy one. We had planned on buying a new one next year with tax return money, but that got moved up a year.

We got started shopping kinda late cuz Daddy researched TVs and stands online. We finally headed out and had to stop at Wal Mart first. Finally we got to Best Buy and picked out what we wanted. After paying (gasp!) we loaded (stuffed) everything into the van and headed home. I was picturing the back hatch popping open on the way home and that very expensive TV falling out on the road. But we made it home.

Now the trick was unloading the old TV cabinet and finding a place for it in the garage. And finding a place for everything that was on it as well as the old (huge) TV. Oh, in the midst of all this, we had a guy from church come to look at our outlets in the kitchen. Three outlets don't work-at all. Frustrating. When I make coffee, I have to move my coffee pot to an outlet that works. He was here for about an hour and couldn't figure it out. He'll have to come back later this week.

After he left, Daddy and I started working on the new TV stand. We put a movie on for the kids upstairs, to keep them happy and out of our way. K ended up falling asleep because she missed her nap. Well that just made her grumpier once she woke up. We took a break from building and gave the kids baths and put them to bed. Daddy and I worked on that darn stand til probably 11. Then we had to hook up the TV to all the components and try to straighten up some of the cords (I still have more of that to do). We finally finished around 1 am and spent about 30 minutes enjoying it.

Daddy also bought some kind of a HD antenna (I don't want to pay for the HD package of Dish just yet). We have spent the entire weekend trying to get that thing to work. I think we will be taking that back and just waiting for HD through Dish. But let me tell you, when it is working and you get a picture in HD, it is BEAUTIFUL!

Now that it is all set up, it is nice. I just need to finish hiding cords and get a nice lamp for behind the couch. I really like how it all looks. It's so streamlined and not cluttered. We will have much fun, I am sure.

Here is a picture of the old cabinet that Daddy and I moved (anybody want to buy a TV cabinet?) and then there is a picture of the after--the new look in our living room.

Happiness is......

Happiness is..... waking up at 4:14 am, thinking it is almost time for your alarm to go off, and realizing that you still have 2 hours to sleep.

UnHappiness is..... not being able to go back to sleep due to a stuffy nose and the Cinderella theme song running through your head.

Happiness is..... going out to buy a new TV--THE one you want and a new TV stand (see next post).

UnHappiness is...... buying the TV because we NEED one and fighting to get the TV stand together until 1 am.

Happiness is..... starting out a slow Saturday morning by all snuggling in our bed (that's why I have a king sized bed)

UnHappiness is..... rushing around all afternoon buying the new TV and stand, putting it together, keeping the kids happy, giving baths, making lunch and dinner, keeping the kids happy---oh and I had to buy new jeans too cuz I got a hole (in a not so good place) in my one and only pair that fit.

Happiness is...... putting the kids down for a Sunday afternoon nap.

UnHappiness is..... checking on a playing K girl and finding her naked---again!
