Our weekend

Well, Daddy finally had his tourney on Saturday. They won the 1st one and lost the next 2. Since it was double elimination, that meant they were out. They played their 3 games right in a row. Needless to say, they were tired. But they were done by noon. That was kinda nice. So we went home and all got cleaned up. Daddy and C went back to watch some of our other church teams play (we had 3 guys teams and 1 girls team). K and I stayed home so she could take a nap. It was nice to not have to go back out in the heat. One of our teams got 3rd-I think. A friend of ours (go green socks!) won the whole tourney. Good job! And the girls got 3rd too. Now Daddy is on to play summer ball. In fact he has a game tonight at 8:30.

Funny story about Daddy and the tourney. When he and C went back to watch, Daddy wore his croc-like shoes--they have all those little holes in the top. He got sunburned (or for him sun tan) on the top of his feet --in little circles. It looks kinda funny.

We also went shopping Saturday evening after we went out for dinner. I needed a new cutter so I could cut my JCPenney's pictures. And I got a new clock for above the TV in the living room. I really like it. But now I need something to put where the old clock used to be.

Sunday was the first day that my K girl went to 2 year old Sunday School class. She's too little! She came out with 2 papers, and boy was she proud of those papers. She wouldn't let anyone else hold them. Too cute. The teachers said she did pretty good. Now she just needs to get in the same routine as all the other kids. She did want to take all the stickers off the attendance chart instead of putting one up. Typical.

Today was Wal-Mart day. Sometimes I wonder why I do this to my self. Both the kiddies were awful and got the you-know-what on their rear end when we got home. Oh well. Such is life. Now tomorrow I will have 5 kids here. Makes for a busy Tuesday but the money is always nice.

Toree

I waited to make sure with Sissy that it was OK to post this blog. It is rather sweet. (This is 2 conversations that I combined into one for the sake of my blog.)

On our way to my sister's house, C asked me, "Mommy, I want to see that baby."

Me: "What baby are you talking about?" (My sister babysits a little boy and I thought maybe he meant him)

C: "The one of Aunt's that went to heaven."

Me: "But C, she's buried."

C: "I know. I want to see where she is buried."

Me: "OK. I"ll talk to Daddy and Aunt to make sure it is all right. Maybe we could get her some flowers."

C: "I wish they could dig her up so I could really see her."

Me: "ummm. But she's dead. "

C: "I know. But I want to meet her."

Me: "But that's why it's nice to know that we will see her in heaven one day. Just think, she's probably up there playing on the streets of gold and maybe swimming in the river that's up there." (We also discussed that fact that if she fell while playing on the streets of gold that she wouldn't get a boo-boo because there are no tears or sickness or sadness or hurts in heaven)

C: "No I don't think that's allowed. She is probably just allowed to put her feet in it."

AAAh, the brain of a child. You never know what might come out. So we went to see Toree's grave. C picked out flowers for her and then we took a picture of C and K with Toree's headstone. It was quite a sweet moment.

Yankees game-by Daddy and C

NEW YORK CITY-Yankee Stadium-Saturday, July 19

New York Yankees vs Oakland A's
Early Saturday morning, Daddy, C, and Uncle left for New York City to take in a Yankees game. They got on the 9:37 am train for the city. Once in the city, they got off the NJ transit train at Penn Station. They then took the subway to 59th Street. Then they had to change trains to the D train and got off at the world famous address of Yankee Stadium--161st Street and River Avenue in the Bronx. Once they arrived, they followed the crowd to the stadium. Before they went into stadium, Daddy took a picture of the new stadium that is being built.

Once they found their seats, they went to get something to eat. Here is what C said he ate: "First I had a pretzel and lemonade. Then we got peanuts and I shared a frozen lemonade with Daddy. Uncle got me ice cream later on."

When C was asked what his favorite part of the day was, he said: "The Yankees winning and Daddy bought me a cool foam finger."

When Daddy was asked what his favorite part of the day was, he said: "Just being able to be there. That was cool. Actually I think my favorite part would have to be when the Yankees tied it up in the ninth inning."

Here is a re-cap of the game: The Yankees scored two in the second, the A's scored 1 in the fifth and 1 in the seventh. Both teams scored in the 9th to send it to extra innings. Jose Molina secured a win for the Yankees when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the 12th. The final score was Yankees 4 Oakland A's 3.

All in all, it was a great day.

Vacation-2

Well I'm back and it's time to get caught up. We have been very busy since the last post. But now we are home and it is nice to be home.

Let's start with last Thursday night. I was finishing up my last post, and Daddy was helping me put the pictures in the right place. Some of the kids were playing Wii, others were on the other computer, the dryer was going. All of a sudden, the room where the Wii was-started dimming but the lights in the dining room where I was were getting brighter. Then we started smelling something hot. So we all "evacuated" out to the driveway. This was almost 9:00. Aunt called Uncle (who was at home 40 minutes away) to come check what the deal was. By the time he got there it was almost 10:00. Then he did some looking and testing. Meanwhile, Aunt and Daddy entertained the kids with sidewalk chalk (more body outlines), big long words (beautiful) for C because "those (the 3 letter ones) were too easy." Around 11:30 or so, we decided it would be best if we packed up and went to Aunt's house for the rest of the night. We had to pack up Grandma's foster baby, the porta-crib, bottles, baby stuff, wet laundry, stuff for one night's stay, pillows, etc. By the time we got to Aunt's house it was almost 1:00 am. Sleeping arrangements were quickly put together (she wasn't expecting company) and we all finally got in bed around 1:30. But of course my children don't know what it means to sleep late. 8:30 and they were ready to go. We packed back up, went back to Grandma's to fully pack our stuff (we were to leave that afternoon), and then we went to Hoffman's Hot Dog Haus. The best hot dogs anywhere. Then from there, we left for my sister's house in NJ. By the way, the electrical problem was caused from a wire on the pole at the road that had rubbed through. Made for an interesting night.

We got to my sister's house Friday night just as they finished their last night of VBS. We ran to the store for a few items and then went back to her house to set up sleeping arrangements there. They don't have central air, but had a window unit for the kids room and fans for us. To me it was still hot. I am not used to heat/humidity. I could not be a FL girl again! I love my IN weather! Saturday the guys left for NY City to see a Yankees game. I will let Daddy and C tell you that story in another blog. The girls went to a nearby Amish market for lunch and I got some Sweet Lebanon Bologna. YUMMO! I could live on that stuff. I can't get it here so I always stock up when I can. Other than that, us girls didn't do much. But it was nice, cuz I didn't feel good (who has ever heard of a summer cold???). That night we moved all of us into the room with the AC and C and I shared a bed. He did good about not hogging my space. He did roll off the bed to the floor (about 3 inches) once during the night, but poor boy was so tired, I don't think he even realized it. I put him back on the bed and covered him back up. Sunday morning we went to church and both kids sat with us. They did really, really good. Especially K who never sits in church with us. She lasted all but the last 15 minutes or so. And she was quiet. We took everyone out for lunch after church (Ruby Tuesday's has the best salad bar) and then went to see Toree's grave. We stopped to get some flowers for C to put there. Daddy took him in and let him pick. His first choice was a cactus, but Daddy steered him in the right direction-miniature white roses.

After we said good-bye to my sister, we headed onto GiGi's house (my Grandma) in PA. We spent one night there. Just like at Daddy's Grandma's house, there wasn't much for the kids to do and I was worried that they would get bored. Well, K found a tin box full of old wooden beads. They were about 1/2 inch long, different shapes and colors. Those 2 kids spent at least an hour and a half playing with those beads! Goes to show you that you don't need TV! The next morning, the first thing C wanted to do was play "bowling with the beads with GiGi." Too cute!

We took GiGi to breakfast at Cracker Barrel and after we dropped her back home, we headed home. It was only 9 hours, but seemed like forever. I was soooo ready to be home! I think it was because I didn't feel good the last few days of vacation.

Tuesday Daddy still had off-which was nice. We unpacked, started laundry and went to Wal-Mart (all we had in the fridge was tortillas and Gatorade). Tuesday night we went to the 4H fair which is right behind our house. We got some good fair food and walked around. K loved the cows! She kept yelling, "Daddy, yook, cow!" We got to see a brand new calf (6 hours old) trying to learn to eat. We got to pet some horses and see a HUGE bunny. We also watched a fire fighter demonstration and C got to crawl out of the "burning" building. He did very good at "stay low and crawl" I mean, he was low--army style. He was not getting in that smoke. It was a nice ending to a wonderful vacation. But boy "There is no place like home."

Vacation-1

Well we are about half way done with vacation. So I thought I'd catch everyone up.

We ended up leaving on Sat (instead of Sun) because Daddy's tourney got rained out. We left around 11 am and got in around 11 am. Not bad time. The kids did OK. C did very well. K--well that's another story. She thru a fit at least twice and did not want to get back in her seat. Poor thing. I can't blame her. She and I colored, did puzzles, watched Elmo, listened to music. I was just as tired as she was. And of course she only slept for about 20 minutes.

Sunday we grilled out, played outside some, the kids went swimming again, and we found some baby bunnies. K loved the pool. She did not want in the floaty, but did not want anyone to hold her. She was ready to take off on her own. C did really well. He could actually touch the bottom but was brave enough to go under and swim around. The water was so cold though. They all came out with chattering teeth and blue lips.

Monday the men worked on siding one side of Mom's house. It looks really nice. The women tried to set up this tent thingy. It kept collapsing every time the wind blew too hard. We also made homemade ice cream. Yummo.

After dinner we had a small party for K's birthday. She got more Elmo stuff and a tool set from her Aunt and Uncle and kids. She thought the tools were for her to do her hair. Her uncle made a very nice Elmo cake. Then there was a Wii tourney before the relatives went home. It's kinda funny to watch. Even Grandma was getting into it. Aunt was jumping up and down when she did good. K found a remote for a recliner and was "playing" Wii with that. So every now and then, there goes the chair way up in the air or way back to the wall. That was funny to watch too.

Tuesday we went to see Grandma Great. We spent the day there and the kiddies were soooooo good, even though there wasn't much for them to do. We even visited another friend of Grandma's for a few minutes. On the way home we stopped at Wal-Mart for a few things and the kids got to pick out a toy for being so good. Daddy and C also got Yankees shirts to wear to the game on Saturday.

Just a funny story about my 2 kiddies from Tuesday morning. Monday night the relatives left and went home to sleep in their own bed, so I put both my kids in the same room so: A) I could hear them both and B) so K wouldn't be scared. Well Tuesday morning before 8am (at home they usually aren't allowed up til it's an 8) C came into our room and told us K was awake. I told him to go back in there and talk to her until it was an 8. So back in he goes. "So what do you want to talk about? You want to talk about the Hulk?" Daddy and I quietly laughed so hard the bed shook. We just laid there and listened to them for awhile. It was so funny.

As of right now, that gets you up to date and that's all the good stuff that I can remember. I'll try to touch base probably this weekend and get caught back up.

K's party

Wow! My little girl will be 2 tomorrow. Doesn't seem possible. She is such a mess-but a cute one.

We had her birthday party tonight. It was an Elmo party. We had a few friends come over. She opened presents first. They were too much of a temptation. She got lots of Elmo stuff-a puzzle, a new DVD (from Bubby), a mini stuffed Elmo and Abby, a book. She also got a very pretty jewelry box from Grandma and Papa. She got a Fisher-Price purse, lacing cards, a very pretty dress (good job M!), another book, a new ring (notice the picture), a raincoat, and saving the best for last--a baby set which includes a swing (that works and plays music), a stroller, a pack&play, a diaper bag, a baby carrier, and a kangaroo baby carrier. She pushed that stroller around all night. And she moved all the other things around to where ever she went. I think she really liked it.

Then we had cake and ice cream. The "cake" was actually 24 cupcakes all iced together to look like Elmo. I think it turned out really cute.

After everyone left we tried to watch her new DVD but she was too interested in the baby stuff. Every time we wished her a happy birthday she told us "Happy" Too cute. And when we told her it was time to eat Elmo, she went over and stuck her hand in the icing. Typical. All in all I think she had a good time. (And yes she kept her clothes on-except when I helped her try on her new dress-and we went to the other room for that)

Now tomorrow is Daddy's tourney. And I have to run out to get JCPenney's pix, and get gas, and go the library. And then we leave bright and early Sunday morning. Posts maybe scarce for the next week. I'm sure I will have much to tell when we get home. See some of you soon!

Great weekend

We had a great weekend. Saturday we did a little of nothing. Daddy mowed the grass and I did some work around the house. C played playstation. I'm not sure what K did. That evening we went to some friend's house for the NASCAR race. They had invited a few other people too. He has a nice flat screen, hang on the wall, high def TV. Nice. She had made nachos belle grande and toppings. We ate well. The kids played outside in the sprinkler, rode their bikes, had races, had glow sticks (C's did not break this time). He did fireworks too. It was fun. Another late night though. We got home, did baths and the kids went right to bed.

Sunday was normal, except we didn't go to choir practice. I know-naughty. But we wont' be there for the next 2 Sundays. It was nice not to rush back to church.

Monday Daddy had off. It was a comp. day for all the extra time he has been working. We had fun. We had planned to go to the park in the morning, but it rained. We did go bowling at noon. It was fun to bowl with Daddy. C was excited that he won for the kids and Daddy won for the adults. Then Monday evening we went to the baseball park to watch one of our other church teams play. It was nice to have Daddy sitting with us instead of playing. He was able to help with the kiddies. Abut 1/2 thru the second game, K told me "Home, Mommy, Home" So we left. On the way home she said "Potty, Mommy, Potty" So we got home and she sat on the potty. She didn't do anything, but I guess that's another confirmation that I need to start working with her once we get home from vacation. Oh yeah (said very sarcastically)

Now my focus is on K's party Friday night and trying to get ready for our trip. I'm tired just thinking about it. I will check back Friday night and try to post pix and stories from K's party. I just hope she keeps her clothes on.

4th of July

We had our 4th of July party last night. I would like to make it an annual party. We had a good time. We had 12 adults and 6 kids come. The day started out rainy and we were worried that it would be a huge damper. But it cleared up and semi-dried out enough for a good time. We ended up having it in our garage instead of our backyard, cuz the backyard was still kinda squishy from the rain. Daddy grilled out hot dogs and everyone brought a dessert and a side. We had some yummy food. One friend brought bacon wrapped green beans. Yummo! I'll have to get the recipe and post it sometime in the future.

The kiddies did bubbles and sidewalk chalk. K loved the bubbles. She had them everywhere! In her hair, on her clothes, in her mouth. She got her shirt so wet--you guessed it--she stripped it off right there in the front yard. That was the end of the bubbles. We went through a HUGE container of bubbles. After we got them cleaned up from that, they did the chalk. Daddy got the bright idea to do body outlines. That was a huge hit. Then Daddy did some fireworks once it started getting dusk. Then we got out the glow sticks. They were a huge hit, until C's broke all over him and he started glowing. He was more upset over the fact that it broke than that he was glowing. We tried to watch the town's fireworks from our yard but the wind wasn't blowing right. All in all I think everyone enjoyed themselves. Two friends stayed the night (cuz they live so far away). They left this morning after cinnamon rolls and checking books out of my "library" All in all it was a great 4th of July.

Bugs and Bowling

On Wednesday nights at church, C has a class for his age group. It's a class for the summer and it's led by our church secretary. She does such a good job. They are covering the days of creation and are currently on the day that bugs were created (I'm not sure which day that would be). She let some of the kids borrow a bug catcher last week. They were to catch a bug and bring it in this past Wed to class so they could look at these bugs with a magnifying glass. So Tues night, Daddy and C were out back looking for a grasshopper or something. Daddy was out by the pond with a little net and the container and C had tweezers (not sure about those) They looked for at least 45 min. Nothing. The one time we wanted bugs, none were to be found. Of course, C was disappointed. So my solution? On the "way" to church we stopped at the pet store and bought him a cricket for 10 cents. He was so proud of that cricket. You would have thought he actually caught it. The teacher was impressed that we had thought to go buy a bug. I was pretty proud of myself too. Next is an ant farm. I hope we don't have to "babysit" them for the week any time soon. After church we went out for pizza with friends from church so we didn't get home til late. But yummy! Monicals pizza ROCKS!

Thursday I took the kids bowling. If you log onto http://www.kidsbowlfree.com/ you can get 2 free games per kid per weekday for free. It's a nation wide thing, but only certain alleys participate. And some you have to pay for the shoes, but that's usually pretty inexpensive. So we went bowling today. The kids love it. Two friends from church showed up, so there were 4 kids on our lane. K used this ball ramp thingy. All you do is set the ball on top and she pushes it off onto the lane. Pretty cool. We had fun. C scored a 63 and was in 2nd place--as he likes to say. K actually was in 3rd. Then tonight we went out to eat after I had an eye appointment (Daddy was home early!! Yeah!!) and did some shopping for our 4th of July party tomorrow night.

On a side note: refer to the previous post regarding K being naked. Today I put her down for a nap and 45 min later she was still awake. When I walked by her room, I heard her saying "Mommy, cold" so I poked my head in her room. You guessed it. Naked. And this time she had peed and was sitting in it. So I'm sure she was cold. So I changed her bed, dressed her and gave her a stern talking to "You leave your clothes alone and go to sleep!" All I can do is shake my head.

Tomorrow and Saturday will be busy, so I will check back in the beginning of next week. Happy July 4th!

"catching up"

This post is going to be a "catching up" of the past few weeks or so and from now on it will all be present/future stuff.

C played PeeWee Baseball this year. He was on the Yankees team which is cool since we (I married into it) are big Yankees fans. He did really well and loved playing. He actually had 4 games that were rained out and not re-scheduled--we weren't really happy about that but oh well. He won a fair amount of his games. He won the last one, so we ended on a good note. He got a really nice trophy for playing. All in all he had fun. I know I did. I loved watching him. Daddy is making a very professional baseball video (complete with ESPN and Baseball tonight music) That's what you get when your Daddy owns a video production business. C also took swim lessons the past 2 weeks. He did such a good job. I am so proud of him. He jumps in and goes under without freaking out about the water in his eyes-an accomplishment for him. He is already asking about lessons for next year and he wants the same teacher (good job, Miss Kim)

Now onto my other kiddie--that K is something else. For those of you who know, you are laughing right now. Some days I don't know what to do with her. Here are just a few of her antics: she likes to hang on my counter tops--I'm waiting for her to climb up on top; she loves to be naked--the other day Daddy went to get her up from her nap and she had not one thing on, sound asleep--funny thing is, she didn't pee in her bed until she stood up; same day she had a poopy diaper and somehow got ahold of the wipes and started stuffing them up her shorts--she hates being dirty or wet; her newest thing now is not wanting to go down at night--I am the only one allowed to put her down and then she wants me to "tit" outside her door--so I put our laundry hamper outside her door and she thinks I'm still there--that could be classified as a bad mother or a smart mother. (By the way, as I type this K is running around with no shirt cuz she stripped it off)

Daddy had 2 baseball games last night-one at 7:45 that we watched and one at 10 that me and the kids went home for. K was grumpy about 9:15-her normal bed time. A friend looked at me and said "you aren't staying for the next game, are you?" I'm thinking he was getting tired of her crying too. Daddy won 3 games this year. Oh well. They had fun....I think. Daddy actually coached. Good job, Daddy! Now we have the tourney on July 12--it's always a long, hot day.

Not much to post for me. Keeping the house in order, trying to get ready for our 4th of July party, nothing exciting. I am reading a book called Mistaken Identity. It's about the 2 girls from Taylor University that got "switched" So far it's good. I haven't read much. I got it last night so I should finish it today. I'll let you know. And I'm in the midst to trying to re-organize my pix and scrapbook stuff. That's a huge job. I am so far behind in scrapbooking. It almost doesn't sound fun.

The title on a friend's blog says it all: "We may not have it all together, but together we have it all!"
