You are royally invited

This year for K's 5th birthday, she was able to invite some friends to her party. It started out as a tea party then became a tea party/manis&pedis. Then we added "make jewlery" to all that. At first I wasn't sure how many girls were going to be able to come. In the end, 5 little girls came, which was a nice number. The invitation asked that each girl come dressed up too, so we had 6 very nicely dressed little girls getting nails painted, making bracelets, and drinking out of nice glass tea cups. It was so much fun!

I made a "spa corner" for the girls to get their nails done. Aunt T and Meg (a good friend) came to do the painting. Each girl got to pick what color they wanted and then they got to pick out a polish to take home.

I even talked C into being the "butler" and opening the door for the girls as they came in. He was such a good sport and did a great job.

Here are the goodie bags that each girl got to take home. It had a nail file, a crown, a silly band, a squinky, some Godiva chocolate, and then the polish that they chose. K chose the purple; no shock there. (the scroll laying in front was the invitation)

Here is one little girl coming in with her puppy all dressed up too!

And of course Aunt T made the cake and did such a good job! I love her cakes!

I made some "fancier" food for snacks. The vegies were arranged to look like flowers, cheese cut out to look like flowers on top of crackers, fruit in a baggie to look like a butterfly, and fruit roll ups to look like sushi. Fun!

K got some nice presents too. She got: glow in the dark-make your own shapes-sidewalk chalk,
a new puzzle, a new purse (with $2 hidden inside), a new game for her "kindle", a Hello Kitty watch, a bath Barbie, a new book, a new umbrella, and new sunglasses with a really nice case. Plus some money, that she has already spent.

I think she had a good time. I know all the girls did. I think their favorite part was making the jewlery (I forgot a pictre of that). I know I had fun planning it all.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, K GIRL!

Happy Birthday K girl!

It's so hard to believe that she's 5!

She might drive me nuts at times, but I love her! She makes me laugh!

Kids day camp = mom's fun week

My kids went to day camp at Uncle J and aunt T's church a few weeks ago. It was 8-5 Monday thru Friday. They had such a blast. I'm hoping to get some pictures so I can post about what they did. Still working on the pictures.

But for me, I had my own plans.

Monday: my one goal for the entire week was to get the pantry all cleaned out. If I got nothing else but that done, I would be happy. I am please to report that I did get my pantry done and more besides. I got the fridge, the oven, the lazy susan, all but one cupboard, and only one drawer--all cleaned out. Very pleased. Here is the midst of the storm.

Tuesday: I had Dei Gratia in the morning and then went home and got more cleaning done.

Wednesday: After I dropped the kids off in the morning, I started shopping. I went to Menards, the mall, Kohls, Target, Kroger, and CVS. Plus I went to lunch with Daddy.

Thursday: I spent the day with Aunt T. We were supposed to be scrapbooking. We didn't get started with that until way late in the afternoon. So we didn't get much done. But we did have a very yummy lunch. Sushi from a new place right around the corner from them.

Friday: I spent the day at home again getting regular cleaning and laundry done.

I know the kids had a fun but tiring week. I could say the same for me.

(to add to all the business, C kept winning his tourney games and so had unexpected games and practices through out the week. But that's all another post)

The mind of an 8 year old

Yesterday for school, C had a seatwork paper that he had to do. One of his answers cracked me up, so I thought I'd share.

Here are the directions

Picture: butterfly minus one set of wings.

Here is his answer.

Translation: The butterfly can't fly because a pair of her wings are gone.

Very good answer.

Picture: Part of a flamingo

Here is his answer.

Translation: The flamingo (is) dead because her neck is gone.

HILARIOUS!

Cracked me up!

Church program #1

The kids sang (acutally did a whole program) Sunday night in church. And yes, I videoed every single song. This post will be the first of a few. These 2 videos are just my kiddies. They were each part of a trio. It looks like they are by themselves but there are 2 others with them. (2 different songs, obviously) They did such a good job! They said they were nervious (C said he was sweating) but you'd never know to watch these. I'm so proud of them!

New Year's Eve

Got a little wild this year. If this is what C ended up looking like, well I can't speak for the rest of us.

Just kidding!

We did have a great time at J&T's. We sat and ate--just the 4 adults. Like old times. The kids were--somewhere. Then we played band hero or guitar hero or whatever it was called. We all pretended we were in a band. We had a bass guitar, a guitar, drums (me) and a singer. It was a blast. We were there until 1:30! I say this often. I love the age/stage my kids are at. They were not at all grumpy (until right at the end. and then K got a little teary/grumpy). They all played well. So much harder to do when they are younger. And then--don't faint--my kids slept til 9:30 for K and almost 10 for C! A big deal in this household. Daddy and I were awake earlier than that (we are getting old. enjoy staying in bed till 5 brother. you'll get old one day) What a great start to a New Year.

Kids Christmas program

The kiddies sang in church Sunday night for their Christmas program. This was K's 1st time singing in church and she was so excited. She had been waiting for this since she started in the choir class. It was kinda funny watching her cuz she didn't know all the words. And when she looked at you, she tried not to smile and lost her place in the song. But they both did very well. We have a few other videos but I'll just post one. (It takes forever to post video on here!)

The Children's Museum-again

I love that place! And I love that we have a membership and can go anytime we want. This time Daddy was able to go with us. And he took his really nice camera so we got some really nice pictures. 322 of them! I wonder what Blogger would do if I tried to download them all.

Here are the highlights.

K loves the carousel. Absolutely loves it. We went on it twice and both times her smile was this big and she clapped and waved at everyone (she's gonna be a mayor one day) and had the best time.

C was pretending to be a dinosaur and lay eggs. Silly boy.

This is the outside of the museum. Pretty impressive.

I think the effect of this picture is so cool.
Notice anything wrong with this backpack? Look at the name and then look at the picture. This was hanging in the "house" in the Egyptian exhibit. Wonder if they noticed the "FAIL."
In the Barbie exhibit, there is a number you can text the word BARBIE to and you will get a call from Barbie. K thought that was pretty cool. When I asked her what she said, "Stuff."
At the drawing board making new creations for Barbie's line of clothing.
I think what the wall says explains it all.
The current traveling exhibit right now is Polar Bears to Penguins. So K got to dress up as a penguin and slide down the ice. Did you know that a polar bear will never eat a penguin? Do you know why? Polar bears live at the North Pole and penguins live at the South Pole. Interesting.
Here they are measuring the distance from our city to the south pole. A long ways.
K was selling tickets to the train. Looks like she's in jail.
C and his "bright idea." Goofy kid.
I know this is blurry but I wanted you to see it anyways. The light kept moving and changing colors and shapes. So the kids were chasing it all over. It was kinda fun to watch them. Wish I had that much energy.
And this is my favorite picture of the day. Even though the kids aren't in it. I thought Daddy did such a good job capturing the carousel. Isn't that just so neat? Good job Daddy!

Pumpkin carvings

This past Saturday we (Daddy) carved the kids pumpkins. He actually went and bought a Dremel pumpkin carving tool. Seemed to make things a lot easier and quicker. K actually helped dig the guts out; C did not "want to touch that stuff." Oh the difference in my kids. I actually tried to toast the pumpkin seeds too. They didn't taste bad but for some reason really upset my stomach. C wanted a football helmet or the NFL logo. He settled for the Colts horseshoe. Simple but I think it turned out really good. K picked Cinderella. I think she's cute. A fun but messy project.

Collages

Daddy has had so much fun with his new camera lately. He's also had fun with the picture software on his business computer. Here is the end result of all such fun. Good job Daddy!
