Our Christmas

We had our Christmas with just the 4 of us on Monday morning. It seemed like a smaller Chrismtas this year. But last year we didn't go anywhere and all presents (from all family memebers) came here. So it seemed like we had much more to open last year. This year I think we will end up having 4 different "Christmases"

I took a picture of C with his "stuff" and one of K with her "stuff" Alas. It is on my other camera and I am not going to get it tonight. You will have to turst me: they made out well.

C got 2 games for his DS and K got a new one for her "Kindle" They aren't allowed to play them until our trip later this week. So they did other stuff. C worked on Legos and K painted.

Daddy was allowed to play his new game. And we all got a chance to play it. He got Band Hero. What a fun game! Check future posts for pictures and videos.

Kids Christmas program

The kiddies sang in church Sunday night for their Christmas program. This was K's 1st time singing in church and she was so excited. She had been waiting for this since she started in the choir class. It was kinda funny watching her cuz she didn't know all the words. And when she looked at you, she tried not to smile and lost her place in the song. But they both did very well. We have a few other videos but I'll just post one. (It takes forever to post video on here!)

Thanksgiving week in NY

This Thanksgiving, we went to NY to see Daddy's family. It was nice to be able to see everyone and spend some time together. We got family pictures done and even went bowling--all 17 of us (Grandma and her foster baby were the only ones who didn't bowl).

Happy Birthday, C!

It is so hard to believe that my baby boy turns 8 today! It doesn't seem possible!

We love you bubby! Have a wonderful birthday!

And stop growing!

Scarecrow's overtake our city

We live in a small town? city? We actually have a town square that's very small. Each year they host a scarecrow contest. Anyone can participate, but it's usually businesses. There is a prize for the winner. One morning after we did some errands, the kids and I went and look at all the entries. There were some very creative ones.
I think these were in honor of the big statues at the State Fair this year.

A very non-traditional scarecrow.
I find this one somewhat disturbing. The face is somewhat real looking. But then look at the hands. Strange.
I love K's smile.

This one was actually made by our neighbor across the street. Good job, neighbor!

Hopefully no one will be offended at this next one, but I found it hysterical! Talk about plumber's but.

Putt-putting

Remember when Daddy took the kiddies putt putting while I was gone? One night we had gone out to Plainfield for dinner. On the way home, on a whim, I said "Let's go!" The kids had been wanting to take me ever since I got home.

Notice the total on K's is blank? Yeah, she had too many to add.

September 9, 2010

I have so much "back log" of blogging. I'm hoping to get caught up in the near future!

These pictures are from a spontaneous visit to the park. I can't remember if school got cancelled for the rest of the day or not. Probably. We still have only done like 3 full weeks of school. Pa.The.Tic.

It was very "dew-y" that morning. I took a towel to help dry the slides off. C still wasn't too pleased.

As we were driving out of the park, we saw these deer in the field across the street from the park. We stopped to watch (the kids wanted to stay longer. I'm not sure why; they were just eating). While we were pulled over, some guy zoomed past (between me and the deer) in a little bit of a hurry. Slow down dude and enjoy the nature!

The end result

Did I ever show you the end result of my garden? Next year I plan on doing a much bigger one. Especially more tomatoes.

And here is my "un-gardened" garden.

And even though we didn't purposely grow him, this caterpillar and a friend grew very well in my garden.

Let it snow!

We went from this on July 10th (which doesn't seem like that long ago).......

......to this today. I saw on the news that we got 2.6 inches of snow. When we went to bed Friday night it wasn't snowing at all. When we got up in the morning there was quite a bit on the ground and it didn't stop until late afternoon. (BTW: K girl took this picture. Pretty good, huh?)

And here is how I shovel snow--from the safety of the garage as the supervisor!

When K came in her feet and hands were a nice bright red. (Poor thing doesn't have boots) C has nice boots so his feet were OK. His hands were a little pink but not like K's. She said the warm shower made them sting and itch. Poor thing. Guess I need to look for boots and real gloves.

The Children's Museum-again

I love that place! And I love that we have a membership and can go anytime we want. This time Daddy was able to go with us. And he took his really nice camera so we got some really nice pictures. 322 of them! I wonder what Blogger would do if I tried to download them all.

Here are the highlights.

K loves the carousel. Absolutely loves it. We went on it twice and both times her smile was this big and she clapped and waved at everyone (she's gonna be a mayor one day) and had the best time.

C was pretending to be a dinosaur and lay eggs. Silly boy.

This is the outside of the museum. Pretty impressive.

I think the effect of this picture is so cool.
Notice anything wrong with this backpack? Look at the name and then look at the picture. This was hanging in the "house" in the Egyptian exhibit. Wonder if they noticed the "FAIL."
In the Barbie exhibit, there is a number you can text the word BARBIE to and you will get a call from Barbie. K thought that was pretty cool. When I asked her what she said, "Stuff."
At the drawing board making new creations for Barbie's line of clothing.
I think what the wall says explains it all.
The current traveling exhibit right now is Polar Bears to Penguins. So K got to dress up as a penguin and slide down the ice. Did you know that a polar bear will never eat a penguin? Do you know why? Polar bears live at the North Pole and penguins live at the South Pole. Interesting.
Here they are measuring the distance from our city to the south pole. A long ways.
K was selling tickets to the train. Looks like she's in jail.
C and his "bright idea." Goofy kid.
I know this is blurry but I wanted you to see it anyways. The light kept moving and changing colors and shapes. So the kids were chasing it all over. It was kinda fun to watch them. Wish I had that much energy.
And this is my favorite picture of the day. Even though the kids aren't in it. I thought Daddy did such a good job capturing the carousel. Isn't that just so neat? Good job Daddy!
