We hadn't been to church 10 minutes, when K's SS teacher came in the back of the audotorium with K and motioned me to come over. When I got over, I saw a gash on K's nose. Her teacher said she had been standing on the lid of a toy box (why was the lid in there? And K knows better anyway) and slipped and fell and hit her nose on the ledge under the window. While we were talking, I was watching it swell up and K was very groggy and her eyes were getting heavy. I was worried about how hard she might have hit her head, so as a pre-caution we decided to take her to the ER. So Daddy went to get C and we loaded up the car.
We didn't have to wait long at all in the waiting room. They checked her vitals (temp, heart, etc) and then put us in a room. That's where we waited. The nurse came; then we waited. The receptionist came; then we waited. The nurse came back; then we waited. The doctor came; then we waited. The nurse came back; we waited. The doctor came back; then we waited. Finally the nurse came and sent us home. Actually, it wasn't that bad. We were only there about an hour and a half total. But with 2 small kids, in a small exam room, with nothing to do, and limited TV choices--it seemed much longer.
Anyway. Back to K's boo boo. She had no signs or symptoms of a head injury for which we were very thankful. They just told us to keep an eye on her and to wake her a few times that night. As for the cut, they glued it shut (what a neat invention, compared to the many stiches I had as a child). They said the glue should help minimize scarring but there would still probably be a small one. And they warned us that she would probably get black eyes. She did so good the entire time they looked, cleaned, glued, etc. The only time she fussed (not really even cried) was when they put the glue on. She said it stung. (So the dr blew on it to help it dry--HELLO! what's with medical people?---another long story).
We got out of there about 12:30 and went to lunch (McAllister's Deli) and then home to naps. We gave K some motrin before her nap; she said she had a headache. That night we checked on her twice, at 11 and 2:30 and then Daddy checked on her when his alarm went off around 6:30. Each time, she woke just enough to tell us "I love you." So sweet!
Since then, she has been fine. Her one eye is turning kinda purple (you can't really tell in the pix) and it was a little swollen Monday morning. Funny side note: Sunday night for prayers she prayed for her nose and knee to get better. Daddy and I were puzzled by the knee request. The next morning when I got her dressed, I noticed 2 big black and blue marks on her shin. I was so concerned with her face that I hadn't noticed them before.
So here are pictures of my "bruiser" I'm sure this is not our last trip to the ER.
PS: Why won't blogger save my returns between paragraphs???? I've tried a bazillion times! I even tried putting 3 or 4 retruns in there. Frustrating!

Oh, poor girl. That looks painful. I pray she heals up well!
Poor K, you can tell she wasn't herself in the first pic, but was feeling better in the second. We hope she is feeling much better. love you!
I have the same issue with the spacing, I thought it was just me.
I HEAR YOU ON THE SPACING -- drives me crazy!
Sorry to hear you had a trip to the ER -- I hope we didn't rub off on you =) K seems pretty tough! Mine can't handle a bleeding hangnail!
Here's to no more ER visits this year!
she looks so cute - even with the gash on her nose :)
about the paragraph thing, i think you can use some html to fix that.
i'm too tired right now to look that up for you. maybe later!
