Surgery and hard work

K had ear surgery Tuesday. She had her left ear tube taken OUT and both holes patched. We had to be at the surgery center at 7 am. I'm still not sure why they have you be there so early. Guess what we did? WAIT! Try doing that with a tired and hungry 2 year old with nothing to do. She actually did well, considering. And some of the time she got to watch cartoons so that helped. The surgery was very quick (we were home by 9:30) and everything went well. She was a little groggy and just wanted Daddy. She did well the rest of the day but just to be safe, she and I didn't go to VBS. Wednesday morning she seemed extra whiny, so I gave her some Tylenol and that mellowed her out. We go for a check up in 4 weeks and if all has healed, she can go swimming and dunk her head (hopefully we will have swim lessons too)

On to the hard work: our neighbor came over and helped (maybe Daddy helped him) fix the outlets in my kitchen. It took about 4 hours. What a mess! What a hassle! But they work! YEAH!

Once again....

I am slow on blogging. I had grand plans to blog this afternoon, but our DSL decided to crash. After many tests and talking to a tech, it was decided that a tech needed to come out to the house and fix the issue. But he couldn't come until Thursday! UGH! This all happened Tuesday around 2pm.

It wasn't until after the kiddies went to bed tonight that I got a bright idea. I unplugged all the phone lines and the DSL line and power source. I waited about 20 seconds and then plugged everything back in. Viola'! It fixed it! Now I'm just hoping it stays "fixed." I'm not cancelling my "techie" until I'm for sure.

Just in case it crashes again, here is a synopsis of our life since my last post. C had a game Saturday (he tied), I had graduation Saturday afternoon, I've been setting up for our garage sale, Daddy had a game Monday night (he lost), K and I had a meeting for her upcoming surgery (next Tuesday to get her ear tubes out and the holes patched), and C had a golf clinic today (with another on Thursday). If our DSL is working tomorrow, I will blog details (plus other stories). BTW: for those who care---potty training is going really good! I"m hopeful!

Check back tomorrow or Thursday to find out more--or to find out that I'm without internet.

K's ear

Thursday night as K was giving out good night kisses, we heard a pop that sounded like it came from her ear. When I looked in her ear with a flashlight, I could see the tube. But it was just far enough back that there was no way I could reach it. When we asked her if her ear hurt, she just said it sounded funny. I spent Friday trying to get her an appointment with someone, her pediatrician or the ENT that put the tubes in. The pediatrician didn't want to touch the issue since they didn't put the tubes in. The ENT couldn't see me until March 16, unless I wanted to drive 2 hours to his other office. I was not comfortable with waiting that long! I don't want her hearing messed up! So I called her peds doctor back and they agreed to see her and see if they could help.

Her appointment was Tuesday afternoon (after Wal Mart, errands, and lunch with Daddy). The doctor said that the tube was sitting in her canal but not touching her ear drum. But the doctor couldn't get it out. So we now have an appointment with a new ENT on Friday. Hopefully this new doctor will take it out. I just don't like the fact that it is just sitting in there.

While we were there, I mentioned to the doctor that C has had a horrible cough for a few days and he has also had diarrhea every morning after breakfast for 4 days now. She didn't seem worried; we just need to let both run its course. We'll get worried if he still has issues in 6 more days. I am sooooo ready for spring to come and all these health issues to GO AWAY!
