Kids day camp = mom's fun week

My kids went to day camp at Uncle J and aunt T's church a few weeks ago. It was 8-5 Monday thru Friday. They had such a blast. I'm hoping to get some pictures so I can post about what they did. Still working on the pictures.

But for me, I had my own plans.

Monday: my one goal for the entire week was to get the pantry all cleaned out. If I got nothing else but that done, I would be happy. I am please to report that I did get my pantry done and more besides. I got the fridge, the oven, the lazy susan, all but one cupboard, and only one drawer--all cleaned out. Very pleased. Here is the midst of the storm.

Tuesday: I had Dei Gratia in the morning and then went home and got more cleaning done.

Wednesday: After I dropped the kids off in the morning, I started shopping. I went to Menards, the mall, Kohls, Target, Kroger, and CVS. Plus I went to lunch with Daddy.

Thursday: I spent the day with Aunt T. We were supposed to be scrapbooking. We didn't get started with that until way late in the afternoon. So we didn't get much done. But we did have a very yummy lunch. Sushi from a new place right around the corner from them.

Friday: I spent the day at home again getting regular cleaning and laundry done.

I know the kids had a fun but tiring week. I could say the same for me.

(to add to all the business, C kept winning his tourney games and so had unexpected games and practices through out the week. But that's all another post)

Doh!

I usually have stories that the kids have done. This post is about me. And my Doh! moments. I have 2.

#1: Back story: every Wednesday church is offering meals before church for $2 per person. It's a way just to make Wednesday nights easier. You have to buy the tickets Sunday so they can have a count. Sunday night before church (a few weeks ago) we left early so we could drive through the ATM and get some cash out. First ATM we went through was broken. Daddy's card wouldn't go in the slot for some reason. We assumed that there was a card stuck in the slot. So we backed out and went to the other ATM. At the second ATM I told Daddy to choose "quick cash" which should have given us just a quick $20. But for some reason it was automatically going to $60. NO! CANCEL! He tried 3times before he opted to go the regular route and get the $20. Meanwhile, someone had gone through the ATM that we thought was broke--and left! Seems like we were there for forever. So we go to church...........and............forget to buy the tickets! Doh!

#2: I was doing laundry the other day. I emptied the lint trap (applause. thank you.) My lint trap is on top of my dryer. As I was turning to put the lint catcher thing back in, my elbow knocked a stain stick----right down the chute! Aaah! How do I get it out?! I called my very handy next door neighbor and he came over to help. He had a brush that fit down the chute but wasn't able to get it out. HE HAD TO TAKE THE ENTIRE BACK OFF MY DRYER.

Besides the stain stick that he rescued, he rescued a small person made of lint. Look at that pile! and yes SIL, I faithfully empty my lint trap. You should see the number of turns that the chute has to make. It's no surprise there is so much lint down in there.

So thankful for our handy next door neighbor. What took him about 25 minutes would have taken Daddy and I about 25 hours. Doh!

My garden

Anyone remember my garden last year? (here and here) It was very small. I up-graded this year. I think last year's was 56 inches. This year I think it's 12x20 feet. I have quite a bit planted but still have room for more. I think I'm done planting for now but next year, I want more! I keep telling my mom that I'm going to post a video of it so she can see what a gardener I've become, and I kept forgetting. So here it finally is.

For some reason blogger won't upload the video, so click on this YouTube link and it should take you there.

I forgot to mention that I also have 2 more strawberry bushes at the back fence. Yummy!

C-isms and other fun stories

If you know my kids, you know that K can come up with a one liner quickly and often. C, not so much. But when he does, they are pretty funny.

The other night Daddy was in the bathroom and C went running that way. "Daddy are you almost done? I have to go!" Daddy finished up and C went. He came out and said " I'm waiting flush because it's still processing." Too funny!

This week my kids have been attending day camp at a friend's church (yes 8-5 every day; I don't know what to do!) Today when we stopped at a red light I said, "we should do a Chinese fire drill." All 4 kids said "huh?" So explained it. They got such a kick out of it. C giggled so much that E said "you laugh like a girl." I'm thinking that part of it was the fact they were so tired.

Another thing that happened every morning, the kids tried to look for deer (we drove through a nature park every morning with big open fields). I think it's funny that we never saw one deer. Unless you count the dead one that I saw and didn't point out to the kids. That just tickles me.

Hopefully I'll be able to get some pictures from day camp. I'll share if/when I get them.

End of the school year

Here are 2 little kiddos that finished school. And did very well, I might add. By the end of the year, they were ready to be done and so was their mommy. So our last day was May 20th. A little earlier than I usually finish. I am now regretting finishing early. They are bored, ALREADY!

We took them to get ice cream at Cold Stone. And then went to see Kung Fu Panda 2 at the theater. I didn't get any pictures of the ice cream or the poster for the movie. So you'll have to trust me; that's what we did. This is at the theater (before the movie started).

I love this picture! I think it turned out so good! And Daddy took it. Yeah for my family.

BUSY!

And that is probably an understatement! And since I have been so busy, this is what has happened to my laundry. IT HAS MULTIPLIED! Like baby bunnies!

This is clean-to-be-folded laundry. (Oh how I need my mother-in-law here!)

And there was a load in each of these!

Surprising we even had clean clothes to wear today!

More K-isms

Aaah! My kids are bored already! I knew I shouldn't have been finished with school so soon!

Anyway. Here are 3 things that K has said lately that I found funny.

1. The other night C asked us (Daddy & I) if we wanted to be President. We both said NO. Too much responsibility. K said she wants to be President one day because "then she can jump on the bed anytime she wants."

2. Last week Daddy was mowing grass. K was right there with him with her little mower "helping." Daddy asked her to open the gate. She had no idea what he was saying, so he had to turn the mower off to tell her. She said "sorry I couldn't hear you. My ears aren't big enough."

3. This week is VBS at church. K has been so excited about it. Tonight they get to have their face painted. We asked K what she was going to get. She said "Jesus." We said "the word Jesus?" She said "No a picture of Him." Good luck with that, Miss Whoever-gets-to-paint-her-face.
