You are royally invited

This year for K's 5th birthday, she was able to invite some friends to her party. It started out as a tea party then became a tea party/manis&pedis. Then we added "make jewlery" to all that. At first I wasn't sure how many girls were going to be able to come. In the end, 5 little girls came, which was a nice number. The invitation asked that each girl come dressed up too, so we had 6 very nicely dressed little girls getting nails painted, making bracelets, and drinking out of nice glass tea cups. It was so much fun!

I made a "spa corner" for the girls to get their nails done. Aunt T and Meg (a good friend) came to do the painting. Each girl got to pick what color they wanted and then they got to pick out a polish to take home.

I even talked C into being the "butler" and opening the door for the girls as they came in. He was such a good sport and did a great job.

Here are the goodie bags that each girl got to take home. It had a nail file, a crown, a silly band, a squinky, some Godiva chocolate, and then the polish that they chose. K chose the purple; no shock there. (the scroll laying in front was the invitation)

Here is one little girl coming in with her puppy all dressed up too!

And of course Aunt T made the cake and did such a good job! I love her cakes!

I made some "fancier" food for snacks. The vegies were arranged to look like flowers, cheese cut out to look like flowers on top of crackers, fruit in a baggie to look like a butterfly, and fruit roll ups to look like sushi. Fun!

K got some nice presents too. She got: glow in the dark-make your own shapes-sidewalk chalk,
a new puzzle, a new purse (with $2 hidden inside), a new game for her "kindle", a Hello Kitty watch, a bath Barbie, a new book, a new umbrella, and new sunglasses with a really nice case. Plus some money, that she has already spent.

I think she had a good time. I know all the girls did. I think their favorite part was making the jewlery (I forgot a pictre of that). I know I had fun planning it all.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, K GIRL!

So True

Here is a conversation that I had with K girl at C's basketball practice the other night.

Me: Did you know you are pretty?
Her: Yes.
Me: How?
Her: You've telled me 101 times.

Me: Did you know I'm proud of you?
Her: Yes.
Me: How?
Her: You've telled me 101 times.

Me: Did you know you are my favorite girl?
Her: Yes.
Me: How?
Her: You've telled me 101 times.

Me: Did you know you are special?
Her: Yes.
Me: How?
Her: Because God made me and He loves me very much!

Oh that girl! She can be so smart!

Mixed emotions

It has been quite the week around here. There have been ups and downs.

The up: My little K girl asked Jesus into her heart today. So sweet. She had been asking many questions but we never felt she was quite ready. Some of our 1st conversations: us--how many gods are there? her answer--2; one for each world (a little too much Star Wars maybe?) her--mommy I asked Jesus in my heart last night cuz my finger hurt. me--ummmm OK? But lately she had been giving all the right answers and we felt she really knew what it meant. This morning while we were in the bathroom (side note: a lot of our conversations with her had taken place in the bathroom) she said "Daddy when can I ask Jesus in my heart?" After some more questions, we were able (all 4 of us) to listen to her ask Jesus in her heart.

The down: The above 'up' made the down a little sweeter. Daddy was able to be home and witness all this because he lost his job Tuesday of this week. Needless to say, it was a huge shock. He had been there almost 10 years. All we have known since we moved to Indiana was this company. It was (and still is) a great company to work for. I worked there for about 18 months until I quit after I had C. The company is going through a hard economic time (they are about 18 months behind the rest of the world in the economy due to the nature of what they do). They actually let almost 500 people go world wide. (They are a huge world wide company). I think 22 from our Indy location were let go.

My heart hurts that Daddy has to go through the job search/interview "yuckiness." I hate it. But the Lord has a reason. We are hoping that maybe this is an opportunity for us/him to expand his possibilities.

Please pray that we/him will be able to find something quickly and that he will only go in the direction that the Lord wants him to go. I'm sure I will keep you posted when anything happens.

(Side note: it will be interesting having him home every day. Could have quite a few fun stories from it)

Twisting Tumblers

K's gymnastic class this summer was called Twisting Tumblers. It was more of a very basic/intro to gymnastics. Did she learn anything? Not much. But I did discover that she is very good at it and really liked it. We may try to pursue it in the future (maybe after school gets established) I really liked the teacher, but I'm not totally sure it was worth the money I paid. I'll look elsewhere in the future. Anyways. I digress.

K learned how to properly do forward rolls, head stands, walk on the balance beam, she attempted cartwheels (not so successful). They did stretches each time along with splits. She was very good at splits. It was so fun to watch her!

Here are some pictures and video for you to enjoy.

Hello Kitty!

Tonight we had a small party for K girl. She/I picked Hello Kitty for her "what kind of party is it?" I think Kitty is so cute! And she is making a comeback from when I was younger.

Aunt T made the cake and out did herself-again. It looked like work of art!

Even though only a few people showed up, K girl still got some really nice gifts. She got a really nice puzzle and book, a porcelin tea set (declared her favorite), a "sew a kitty kit," Hello Kitty bubble blower (I'm excited about this; I hate bubbles), a Princess Tiana Barbie doll, 2 mini puzzles (that rang up at Target for $0.29 for both of them!), new ear rings, 2 new books, a pack of book marks (that girl loves her book marks), a new belt, and a new water bottle.
Funny side story (I always have a side story): A few weeks ago we checked out the movie A Little Princess with Shirley Temple. K loved that movie. She was sad when we had to turn it back in. I had the bright idea to buy it for her for her birthday. I wrapped it early this morning. This afternoon K was picking out a movie to watch and we found that I already owned that movie. Totally forgot. So there goes one of her presents. Oh well. She was happy.

The next picture is kinda disturbing, but kinda funny. Here is Hello Kitty after we ate some of her. She was yummy!

My 4 year old

Here is a play by play of K's day yesterday.
Let's start at 3:45 am. I heard the famous "mom!" At that time of day--uh morning, you jump and run. She had peed her bed (she is doing so good at wearing panties at night but at least once a week still has an accident) By the time I got in there, she had already changed; I just had to change her bed. While I was changing her bed, I must have mumbled something about Daddy because next thing I knew she was in talking to Daddy. She took her woobie and asked him if it had gotten wet. After he said no, she said "OK. I need to get back to my bed now so my birthday can get here." Because of her early morning issue, I assumed she would sleep later. Nope. 8am she comes in and proclaims "Here's the birthday girl!"

For breakfast she picked to have Dunkin Donuts. So she and Daddy went and got donuts (just like C and I go get them for his birthday).

Before we actually got to eat, K got to open presents. Priorities ya know. She got a new puzzle (that girl loves her puzzles), a color wonder book/markers, Hello Kitty play dough (for school), some new pencils (cuz we don't have enough ya know), some barrettes, Hello Kitty band aids, Cooking Mama for the Wii, some Crayola colored pencils with a pencil sharpener (which she has named as her favorite present), some stickers, and $30.

Since Daddy took the day off, he got to go to her tumbling class. I think that was one of her favorite things of the whole day. (I have a whole post, with video, of her tumbling class coming up. You will just have to wait until then)

After tumbling we went to Wal Mart. I did grocery shopping (without kids!) and Daddy took the kids to the toy aisles and let K spend her money. But she cried cuz she couldn't get EVERYTHING she wanted. Oh the heartbreak. She ended up with 4 pairs of Princess dress up shoes, a Princess microphone, 2 new puzzles, and a doggie (that was technically C's present to her).

After Wal Mart we went to lunch. K had picked 5 Guys Burgers--not because she likes their food (every time we go I take a lunchable for her). She likes the peanuts that they have--all you can eat while you wait for your food. That's all she wanted.

After lunch, we went home to unpack groceries, get birthday phone calls, and try on/play with all the new stuff. It was a nice lazy kind of afternoon. For dinner that night we went to Olive Garden. K's pick there was the tomatoes and croutons off the salad, some breadstick, and half of her spaghetti.

Side note: Then we ran to Target to get C some new dress shoes. Turns out he was wearing 2 sizes too small. No wonder he complained every Sunday morning. Poor guy.

Then home for birthday cookie and "make sure you sing to me Mommy."

Happy Birthday to my K girl!

It's hard to believe that my little girl is 4 today! I love my little girl! She keeps me busy but can be so funny too!

We have had such a fun day--of her! She got to pick what to have for all her meals today. She got to open some presents. She got to spend some birthday money. She got Daddy to stay at home all day. What more could you ask for?

I promise I will have a full-length birthday post tomorrow. For now, we are off to Ovile Garden for dinner.

Bad girl!

Two new K girl stories for you.

Let me give you the back story. Friday the kids and I went to Wal Mart. The kids were very good. We got home ate lunch and watched TV. The kids were good. K got put down for her nap late. NOT GOOD! She never slept. She laid in there and played for about an hour. For about an hour after her "nap" she was in an OK mood. Then it all hit--if ya know what I mean. She wasn't just bad; she was awful! She was told that she WOULD be going to be early. At 8:30 we got both the kids ready for bed and she was in bed about 8:35. As I kissed her good night, I told her not to get up AT ALL (she's been using the "I have to go potty" thing lately and I didn't want her getting up in the morning til we got her. C was allowed to stay up and watch TV for a little longer. About 9:00 I heard her talking, pretty clearly I might add. So Daddy ran up to check on her. At the top of the stairs, lined up very neatly were her play Princess figurines and there she went running back to bed. Daddy was VERY mad. He applied the stick very well. Plus a very stern talking to. Plus a cuddle talk. She makes me so tired.

Totally different story, different day. Daddy was reading the paper and K was standing beside him looking too. She pointed to an ad that showed a girl laying on the beach in a bikini. "Mommy needs those" (we think she was talking about the bikini at first) Daddy: oh really? "Yeah but I don't think those are real." Daddy and I laughed and laughed. If she only knew.

And that is my blog for tonight. I will be out of town next week and have no idea if I will have internet access. Please pray for my dad as he will be having surgery next week. We will be back next Saturday.
