My Rookie League Player

So C started his baseball season for this year. He has moved up to the next league--Rookie league. In this league the kids pitch for the first 3 innings and play catcher for the entire game. The coaches work with them a lot more to actually play the game instead of picking weeds or kicking in the dirt.

This year C is on the Auburn Tigers team. I miss the Yankees. I have caught myself almost yelling "let's go Yankees!"

C's first game was Friday night. Can you believe we didn't take a camera! I was able to get a few pictures with my phone but #1 they aren't very good and #2 they are still on my phone. It was our team's 1st game and the other team's 3rd game. We lost by the 10 run rule.

His 2nd game was today and they did so much better! C actually got to pitch for 1 1/3 innings. He did such a good job. Struck out 3 batters, walked a few, gave up some runs, but over all did a great job. He was so proud of himself! And he looked so grown up out there on the mound. My little boy isn't so little any more.

Last night he actually had a really play at first. He was playing pitchers helper and threw a kid out at first. Today he had two really good hits, past 2nd base into the infield and got a single each time.

I do have some video of him actually pitching but it's on my other camera (we actually had 2 cameras at this game) and I haven't had a chance to get it off there yet. I'll save that for another post. Here are a few pictures to enjoy though.

Misc baseball pictures

Actually this is what K did during baseball games: took pictures of her rock collection.

And this is C's slider or maybe split ball or is it his fast ball? Not too sure.

That's a wrap

This post is dedicated to C's last season of Pee Wee baseball. It's hard to believe he played 3 years! And boy did he get good. Well, better. He was always pretty good at baseball. I honestly can't tell you if he had a winning or losing season (I think it might have been even???) The last few games were cancelled due to weather and never got rescheduled.

I have 2 main points to this post.

Number 1: May 24th the Yankees played the Giants. Insignificantly, they won 28-12. Significantly, C got the game ball! First of all, kudos to the coach for doing such a thing. Any kid that got it was more than excited. But C earned it at that game for making a diving catch on a pop fly and for throwing someone out at first base. Sadly, I did not see the catch and only caught the tail end of the out at first (Potty breaks cannot be scheduled for a 4 year old; they must be NOW!)
Number 2: After the season was over, all the teams were invited to the water park for a pool party (just like last year). This year it was on a Saturday which made it so much easier. The kids always have so much fun but there are always a bazillion people there! I did not get any pictures at that pool party. Later that week, Coach had a pool party for just the Yankees team. They had pizza and then the kids swam (actually Daddy and I did too). After all the swimming, Coach passed out trophies and then the kids signed each others game balls. So sad that his Pee Wee baseball time is over, but excited about what the Rookie league will bring.

Updates

I have a few different topics to update you on, so I thought I'd combine it all into one post. Hopefully it won't be very long.

#1:C's baseball games
There are 15 games in a season.
His team has won 7.
His team has lost 4.
He has 2 to make up due to rain/cancellation, plus the last 1 on his schedule.
He played 1/2 of one Tuesday night before they called the game due to impending weather. And let me tell you, it let loose! It was horrible driving home. They were losing when we left.
There is an upcoming really cool post about one of his games. Check back.

#2: my garden
Is exploding!
I have 9 tomatoes and a bazillion buds.
My lettuce is getting close; my carrots and onions look good.
Everything should be ready around July 4th.
I'm thinking of making homemade salsa with all my produce. Anyone have a good recipe?

#3: Summer reading programs (go here too)
This year both kids are participating in various programs.
I think I've entered them in 6: 2 libraries, Barnes & Noble, Half Price Books, Pizza Hut, HE Buddy (never heard of them before; we'll see how it goes)
We went to Half Price Books the other night and the kids spent the first 2 of their earned gift cards.
Funny story: K bought a coloring book. She is on "crayon restriction" for coloring on the floor-AGAIN! Seriously?!

#4: Daddy's late birthday
Since we had company during Daddy's birthday week, I didn't have a chance to get him a present and we didn't get to celebrate with just the 4 of us.
So one day we decided to have a "surprise party" waiting for him when he got home.
We had balloons and a few presents for him.
And a cookie. The best part, I think.
He was surprised and it was bunches of fun.

Box Office Scores

Yankees are now 4 and 1.

C has had a hit every time he has been up to bat.

The game that they lost, they lost pretty bad. But they had some really really good plays!

He is supposed to have a game tonight but it has been raining pretty much all day. I'm just waiting for the "game cancelled" phone call.

The Yankees are 2-0

I'm a little behind on C's baseball games. He's had 2 (thus the 2-0) and 1 has been rained out. Thankfully (different from last year) it has already been rescheduled for Thursday of this week. So poor C will have 3 games this week. And Daddy had 2 Monday night. I'll be all "baseballed" out.

Daddy has Tweeted (Tweetering as K calls it) an inning-by-inning play-by-play (wow) for both games. C has been 4 for 4 both games. That's at bat four times and gotten 4 hits for those of you that aren't baseball savvy.

C gets to first base.
And there he goes rounding 3rd.

Indianapolis Indians game

The Indianapolis Indians are a AAA baseball team. Every year our church gets free tickets to go see a game. It's nice to go to this game, cuz most people in our section are from our church. K and I didn't go last year because it was so HOT. This year, it was beautiful! We actually took jackets for the kids. Another bonus, Monday nights are $1 menu nights. So we ate dinner at the ball park.

We had a really nice time. The kids were good (extra nice since Monday was HORRIBLE w/ K girl-HORRIBLE), the weather was beautiful, the Indians won, and we got to just sit and talk with church people.

We took Stanley with us (I remembered poor Stanley). So here are some pictures of our night.

As we were walking to the stadium, we saw the outside of the massive Lucas Oil Stadium where the Colts play.I know it's hard to see, but the Indians won 5 to 1.

Pool Party

At the end of the year for Pee Wee baseball, there's always a pool party at the "water park" in town. It's not a huge water park, but there are 2 nice sized slides, and kiddie section with a slide and a "sprinkler section" for little ones. We didn't go last year becasue it's always on a Sunday night. This year we left church a little early and made it to the pool in time to spend a nice amount of time. There was a bazillion kids there (every Pee Wee player and their family was invited), but it wasn't so crowded that we couldn't enjoy it. We started out in the sprinkler section and that's the only place I took pictures. After that, we spent some time in the kid section and then moved onto the slides. The kids LOVED the slides! C went down w/ Daddy once and then was brave enough to go on his own. Once he got to the bottom of the slide, it was shallow enough for him to touch and walk to the side. K went down with Daddy and I a few times each. She giggled the entire way down! It was really fun! The slide could get going kinda fast if you layed back. We had such a good time. K cried and didn't want to leave. She wanted to stay the night there. I think she would have changed her mind after everyone left.

C's last game

C had his last baseball game last Saturday. I think he ended up with a winning record. I know he really improved over the year. At the last game, they always announce each kid for like a "starting line-up"

Nice action picture, Daddy!

This was kind of a spontaneous picture. All our kids had to be out of the dugout for the next game, so they all lined up here to wait for snacks and parents. So of course all the moms got out their cameras. This was their last huddle. Go Yankees!

Of course, K got hold of the camera and had to take some pictures. I actually think she did a good job on this one. At least he has a head (compared to my golf picture). And here is my K girl. What a ham!

Weekend guests

This past weekend we had 2 guests stay with us, Friday afternoon until Sunday afternoon. Here is the first one. What a good doggie! The second guest was one of Mugsy's "owners(?). The youngest of our friends (J&T). We will call her "Chunk-A-Monk." I swear she weighs more than my 2 combined! She looks rolly polly but is so much heavier than she looks even! But she is such a cutie! She was such a good girl, really only fussed when put down to sleep (nap and bed). She's about 13 months younger than K girl. K was somewhat jealous of her in regards to daddy. Kinda funny.

Friday night after dinner, we let the kids ride bikes out front for a little while. Saturday morning, C had a game (he lost). After the game, one of the coaches treated all the kids to ice cream at DQ. Too cute! He even got one for K! Then home for naps, grass mowing, hair cuts, showers, baths. For dinner we went out to eat. It's so different to ask for a table for 5. I'm thankful for my little family. That evening while some played Wii, the girls painted toe nails and fingernails. Monk wanted nothing to do with it. Sunday morning was a little busier getting another girl ready. She went right into nursery for Sunday School and did fine all the way through church. When I went in to get her, she had messed all the way through her pretty dress! Poor thing. Poor nursery workers. Then it was home, lunch, and naps. Daddy and Mommy came and got her about 4.

It was a fun weekend; something different. My kids didn't want her to leave. Even though she was a very good girl, I had a different opinion. I like my 2 kids. 2hands=2kids

We were going to take pictures of the kids in their Sunday best after we got home from church. The diaper issue changed that. So all we have are pictures from Friday night.

Our garage sale

Well we had our garage sale this past week. Sometimes I wonder why I go to all the trouble. We spent Tuesday and Wednesday out in the garage setting all the stuff up. The sale was Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Thursday we had to leave for about 2 hours for C's golf clinic. Saturday we had to close up early for C's game. I'm not sure if all that hurt me or not. All together we made about $140. The kids made $14! They sold candy and some of their old toys. We had our old HUGE tv cabinet that I wanted to sell. It is still sitting in our garage. UGH! Saturday after the sale, I pitched a lot of stuff. Stuff that hasn't sold in the past 3 garage sales or so. I figured that was a hint. I'm hoping to put our broken tv to the curb tomorrow. I tried to give it away for free, but no one wanted it. If we could just sell the cabinet, we could have our garage back. I've put it on Craig's List but haven't had any response. Anyone want a tv cabinet? :)

For those who are wondering, C won both of his games last week. As he said "I actually smoked the Rays."

We also started VBS yesterday (Sunday) so that will make for a very busy week. If I have any interesting stories, I'll be sure to share. K also gets her tubes out of her ears and the holes fixed tomorrow. (I'm not planning on VBS Tuesday night)

That is our week in review and pre-view. Hopefully I can keep up a little better in the future.

Once again....

I am slow on blogging. I had grand plans to blog this afternoon, but our DSL decided to crash. After many tests and talking to a tech, it was decided that a tech needed to come out to the house and fix the issue. But he couldn't come until Thursday! UGH! This all happened Tuesday around 2pm.

It wasn't until after the kiddies went to bed tonight that I got a bright idea. I unplugged all the phone lines and the DSL line and power source. I waited about 20 seconds and then plugged everything back in. Viola'! It fixed it! Now I'm just hoping it stays "fixed." I'm not cancelling my "techie" until I'm for sure.

Just in case it crashes again, here is a synopsis of our life since my last post. C had a game Saturday (he tied), I had graduation Saturday afternoon, I've been setting up for our garage sale, Daddy had a game Monday night (he lost), K and I had a meeting for her upcoming surgery (next Tuesday to get her ear tubes out and the holes patched), and C had a golf clinic today (with another on Thursday). If our DSL is working tomorrow, I will blog details (plus other stories). BTW: for those who care---potty training is going really good! I"m hopeful!

Check back tomorrow or Thursday to find out more--or to find out that I'm without internet.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

Here is a baseball update: the last game C played was last Saturday morning. It was an early game (9 am). We stopped at Hardee's for breakfast first. Then on to the game. It was sooooooo cold! I'm glad I dressed the way I did, but my toes were so cold cuz I had sandals on. Poor K's toes were cold too, for the same reason. C just had his short sleeved uniform on; I should have put a long sleeved shirt on underneath. Oh well. His team did really well. They won again! They've won every game so far. I was actually able to get some pictures of him playing this time. And I finally got one of him in his sports glasses. Here is C on 1st base getting ready to run to 2nd. He is the blue #8. For some reason, C decided to do a dance while playing 2nd base. Not sure about this.
Here he is all business, playing 2nd base.

Baseball/Softball games

I know I haven't blogged in a few days, but honestly I haven't had much to blog about. We had revival last week, so we were very busy every night last week. This week is not much better. Tonight is our only free night. Last night Daddy had a softball game. We went early to watch some of the other teams play. Daddy's game didn't start until 8:45; so needless to say, it was a late night. We had a good time, even though Daddy lost. It was a good game.

To back up a little, C was supposed to have a game last Saturday morning. We had rain almost every day last week, so the fields were very muddy. So they cancelled his game, even though it ended up being a nice day. We did a little shopping in the morning (new sneaks for Daddy and I, a Yoga mat for me, a new golf club for Daddy, new baseball pants for C (which I have to take back cuz he is too skinny!)). Daddy mowed the grass in the afternoon. It was pretty pathetic. So despite a cancelled game, it was a good day.

Now C has a game Thursday night this week and another Saturday morning. As of right now, it's supposed to rain again. I'm really praying he can still get his games in.

To fill in the other nights this week, Wednesday night is our last night of AWANA! YEAH! It's awards night, which is a very busy night for me. Then we are going out to eat Friday night for Mother's day. We never go out the day of. The lines are crazy! Last year, we got take out from Olive Garden. That was a great idea! This year we are going to Red Lobster Friday night and Daddy is going to cook Sunday. It seems like Mother's day came up quick this year .

On a side note, C only has 5 more days of school. He and I are both ready to be done. The quality of his work is going down hill and my "caring" is quickly following. Oh well; there's always next year. I'm hoping to keep him (and his sister) busy with other stuff this summer so I don't hear much of "I'm bored" I don't think I'll succeed.

C's baseball game

C had his first official baseball game Saturday. Thursday they played a scrimmage game to get them used to a game. Anyway. On to Saturday.

C's game was at 1 which meant he needed to be there about 12:30. Daddy had practice from 12-2. So we went to his practice for 30 minutes then on to C's game. To back up to Saturday morning, C had practice for a church program Saturday morning from 9:30-11 (another post). So it was a rushed Saturday. Oh and Daddy forgot the camera for C's game, so after Daddy's practice I dropped C and Daddy off at the game and ran home to get the camera.

Because I was late I missed C's only hit. He got a double! He struck out on his other 2 times to bat. We are trying to tape all his "up to bats" like last year. Hopefully Daddy can make/finish another "Sports Center Update" of C's games.

They did end up winning their game, I think the score was 16-6 or something like that. He was happy that they won.

Daddy ended up coaching 1st base which meant I was videotaping which meant I didn't get any pictures. The pictures below are from his scrimmage game Thursday night.

After the game we stopped at DQ for a very late lunch of hot dogs, chips, and a Dilly bar. (I got Daddy and K an ice cream sandwich, thinking that would be easier for her. But didn't know that Daddy wanted a Dilly bar. Oh well. Sorry Daddy. Next time)

After a K's nap, the kids played outside and we grilled dinner. It was a fun, but busy day.
C up to bat (he was #4 last year; this year he is #8).

C on 1st.

I'll have to get a close up picture of him in his sports glasses. Poor guy; but he looks so cute!
