The Children's Museum-again

I love that place! And I love that we have a membership and can go anytime we want. This time Daddy was able to go with us. And he took his really nice camera so we got some really nice pictures. 322 of them! I wonder what Blogger would do if I tried to download them all.

Here are the highlights.

K loves the carousel. Absolutely loves it. We went on it twice and both times her smile was this big and she clapped and waved at everyone (she's gonna be a mayor one day) and had the best time.

C was pretending to be a dinosaur and lay eggs. Silly boy.

This is the outside of the museum. Pretty impressive.

I think the effect of this picture is so cool.
Notice anything wrong with this backpack? Look at the name and then look at the picture. This was hanging in the "house" in the Egyptian exhibit. Wonder if they noticed the "FAIL."
In the Barbie exhibit, there is a number you can text the word BARBIE to and you will get a call from Barbie. K thought that was pretty cool. When I asked her what she said, "Stuff."
At the drawing board making new creations for Barbie's line of clothing.
I think what the wall says explains it all.
The current traveling exhibit right now is Polar Bears to Penguins. So K got to dress up as a penguin and slide down the ice. Did you know that a polar bear will never eat a penguin? Do you know why? Polar bears live at the North Pole and penguins live at the South Pole. Interesting.
Here they are measuring the distance from our city to the south pole. A long ways.
K was selling tickets to the train. Looks like she's in jail.
C and his "bright idea." Goofy kid.
I know this is blurry but I wanted you to see it anyways. The light kept moving and changing colors and shapes. So the kids were chasing it all over. It was kinda fun to watch them. Wish I had that much energy.
And this is my favorite picture of the day. Even though the kids aren't in it. I thought Daddy did such a good job capturing the carousel. Isn't that just so neat? Good job Daddy!

Mixed emotions

It has been quite the week around here. There have been ups and downs.

The up: My little K girl asked Jesus into her heart today. So sweet. She had been asking many questions but we never felt she was quite ready. Some of our 1st conversations: us--how many gods are there? her answer--2; one for each world (a little too much Star Wars maybe?) her--mommy I asked Jesus in my heart last night cuz my finger hurt. me--ummmm OK? But lately she had been giving all the right answers and we felt she really knew what it meant. This morning while we were in the bathroom (side note: a lot of our conversations with her had taken place in the bathroom) she said "Daddy when can I ask Jesus in my heart?" After some more questions, we were able (all 4 of us) to listen to her ask Jesus in her heart.

The down: The above 'up' made the down a little sweeter. Daddy was able to be home and witness all this because he lost his job Tuesday of this week. Needless to say, it was a huge shock. He had been there almost 10 years. All we have known since we moved to Indiana was this company. It was (and still is) a great company to work for. I worked there for about 18 months until I quit after I had C. The company is going through a hard economic time (they are about 18 months behind the rest of the world in the economy due to the nature of what they do). They actually let almost 500 people go world wide. (They are a huge world wide company). I think 22 from our Indy location were let go.

My heart hurts that Daddy has to go through the job search/interview "yuckiness." I hate it. But the Lord has a reason. We are hoping that maybe this is an opportunity for us/him to expand his possibilities.

Please pray that we/him will be able to find something quickly and that he will only go in the direction that the Lord wants him to go. I'm sure I will keep you posted when anything happens.

(Side note: it will be interesting having him home every day. Could have quite a few fun stories from it)

Pumpkin carvings

This past Saturday we (Daddy) carved the kids pumpkins. He actually went and bought a Dremel pumpkin carving tool. Seemed to make things a lot easier and quicker. K actually helped dig the guts out; C did not "want to touch that stuff." Oh the difference in my kids. I actually tried to toast the pumpkin seeds too. They didn't taste bad but for some reason really upset my stomach. C wanted a football helmet or the NFL logo. He settled for the Colts horseshoe. Simple but I think it turned out really good. K picked Cinderella. I think she's cute. A fun but messy project.

School in the bathroom?

Today proved to be an interesting day. Daddy called me a few minutes after he left work and told me to check the weather. There was a huge storm headed our way; complete with high winds, lots of rain, and possible tornadoes. Great. Once I got up and saw how bad the storms looked, I decided to set up camp in our tornado room--our very small half bathroom downstairs. But I didn't want the kids to start school late. So I decided to have them do school, sitting in the bathroom, waiting the storm out. Of course they thought it was kinda cool. Thankfully, we didn't have to sit in there long--maybe 45 minutes. And thankfully it was all needless work; we are all safe and sound. After the storm was all done (it was lightly raining), I happened to look out the front door. I saw a lady with a long stick and a tub turned upside down--on something. So we went out to investigate. Turns out that she had trapped a snapping turtle. TURNS OUT HE LIVES IN MY POND! She was trying to get him out of the road so no one would approach this mean turtle and come away missing a finger. This lady had caught this same turtle before and knew how mean he was In the end, she took him with her and was going to have her son release him somewhere else so we wouldn't have to worry about him again. Check out the video of him snapping at the stick. Scary stuff.

Collages

Daddy has had so much fun with his new camera lately. He's also had fun with the picture software on his business computer. Here is the end result of all such fun. Good job Daddy!
