Potty Diaries-The End!

This post is for anyone who cares and anyone who was wondering. K girl is officially potty-trained. I declare it done and she has stated as such too. She has also said that we need to sell her potty seat. So if anyone is in need of a used potty seat, I have one. She still needs a diaper at night but can go all day in her pretty little panties. I'm so excited and so proud of her. Another "baby thing" behind us.

I know this is a short post--short and to the point--but I am in the middle of Christmas shopping online. No time to stop! Catch you later!

Blogging is slow

My mother-in-law actually commented that I haven't blogged lately. It must be pretty bad when people start noticing. We have been so busy lately! I haven't had time to think let alone blog. So here is a catch up and hopefully I can schedule some posts for the next few days.

Last week was kind of a hard week with my K girl. But I had a chance to get away a few times last week. Boy did I need that!

Thursday night I had a Dei Gratia meeting. Friday night we had a Ladies Fellowship at church. The speaker was Miss Suzie (C's AWANA leader). She is a blind lady that lives on her own. She is an amazing lady. She loves C! She actually mentioned him during her devotional. She will miss him next year. And Last Saturday I had a bridal shower for a friend (M). Actually C will be in that wedding on July 4th. We had such a good time! They had good food, fun games (blush!), and she got lots of stuff.

C had a game on Saturday too; he lost but did a very good job. He had another game Monday that he lost too. His game started at 6pm and Daddy's game started at 6:30. So Daddy was late to his game and didn't really get to play. His team lost too. We stayed at the ball park to watch some of the next games and eat dinner at the ball park.

Tuesday I watched 2 kids for a long day. Tuesday after they left, we worked outside. Daddy mowed grass and I cleaned another section of fence. We are trying to clean and stain/seal our fence this year. Wednesday we spent almost the entire day outside. The kids played (play dough-see future post) and I stained the fence. I worked on one section until 5:30 and still have a few touch ups to do. I was burnt, hot, tired, sore, etc. So instead of church we went to Olive Garden.

Thursday the kids and I went to the library. I registered C in a reading contest through one of our local libraries. So I checked out some books that he can read for that. We also did a few errands and met Daddy for lunch.

Friday Daddy got to go to the Indy track for Carb day for the Indy 500 race, which is Sunday. His department called it a "team building" day. It was a nice way for him to start his long weekend. The kids and I did some cleaning and I had C do some "thinking papers" and practice his combinations. After dinner, we went to DQ for some ice cream.

Now we are caught up to today. We went to the park this morning and then came home and set up the pool. We had such a good time! We have decided that today is just a play day. We'll finish cleaning, mow grass, work on the fence, etc. on Monday. So far we have had a very good day!

On a side note, we have been working really hard on potty training. K did so good on Thursday and Friday. She has actually made it to the potty a few times with no mistakes or accidents. But then she's also had a few accidents too. But I'm seeing improvement. It will happen, right?

It's all poop

So here is another story, courtesy of my K girl. And yes, it's about poop. So if you think you will be grossed out, stop reading. Sunday afternoon, everyone was peacefully taking a nap. It was about time to get K up, so I went to check on her. The moment I opened up her door, I smelled it. She had pooped. I went over to her crib to put the side down to get her out. As soon as I touched the rail, I jerked my hand back. It was smeared w/ poop. I said "Yuck!" K said, "There's more over there Mommy." (on the other side). She also had it on herself, her clothes, her stuffed animals, her sheets, her covers. And it stunk!

So in the tub she went. Into the wash machine went just about everything else. While she was in the tub, I cleaned her crib with Lysol wipes. After she got out of the tub, she got spanked. When I asked her "Why?" She said she was just checking it and it was bugging her. I told her that she should have just called me and I would have changed her! She will put me in the loony bin!

So I guess I need to try the potty training thing again. I just don't know how to go about it with her. She is so different from C; I don't think the approach I used for him will work for her. Also, we have revival this week. Probably not a good week to start trying again. Wish me luck!

Potty diaries

I borrowed the title from a friend's blog. Thanks-you know who!

I've started trying to potty train K again. Wednesday went pretty good. I've discovered her "reward" She likes to have her toes painted, but I haven't done it since warm weather. So I told her that if she peed in the potty, I would paint her toes. She kept her pull-up dry all morning and peed twice in the potty. So I painted one foot the first time and the other the next time. (Funny side note: did you know that girls can spray just as well as boys? yeah, I got sprayed) I told her that if she did the other in the potty, I would paint her fingernails (minus the one she sucks). But alas, that never happened. Instead the did that in her pull-up. So as "punishment" I took off the polish on her toes and told her that we would try again. I have decided that if I have to paint and re-paint her toes and/or fingernails every day, I will---if it helps get her trained!

Thursday was not such a good day, but we were gone all morning. I always have issues once she gets up from her nap, I think cuz I'm busy getting dinner and forget to ask her. We will keep trying as often as we can and see what we can accomplish this time.

Kids say the darndest things

I've been trying to remember a few things that the kids have said lately. So I thought I'd put them here for others to enjoy as well.

As you may know, we have been trying to potty train K. It has not gone so well. Every time she does anything in her pull-up, we'll tell her "K don't pee in your pull-up" Her answer is "I willn't Mommy" Instead of "I won't" it's "I willn't" Cute.

A few weeks ago after we had grilled out for dinner, there were quite a few flies inside. The kids and Daddy chased them around with the fly swatter. C later said, "Daddy wouldn't it be nice if there was an automatical fly swatter?" Automatical????

Just a few minutes ago, I was scrubbing some spots out of our carpet with Resolve carpet granules (love those things). C said "Mommy why are you getting rid of the spots? I like them." Me: "why?" C said: "Cuz they are pretty stones Mommy." Trust a child to see the beautiful in ugly carpet spots.

A day in the life of.....

A friend had a cute post the other day on her blog. I thought it was such a cute idea, that I thought I would try it too. So here is “A day in the life of….”

Daddy’s alarm clock goes off around 7:30 and he hits snooze at least twice. That has bothered me since we’ve been married, but I choose my battles and that is a losing one. Once he gets out of the shower, I get up to get mine--usually around 10 til 8. The kids are not allowed to get out of bed until it is an 8—on any day.

If the kids are awake and can get up when Daddy leaves, we all stand at the back door and wave as he leaves. The kids usually watch Curious George until 8:30 and then we eat breakfast, usually pop tarts, granola bars, cereal, cinnamon rolls, or chocolate chip muffins. After breakfast, C goes upstairs to start school and K usually watches a little more TV. I clean up breakfast, check what is for dinner, maybe empty the dishwasher, check e-mails and blogs, balance the check book, do laundry, clean, maybe read a little (my Bible or a good Karen Kingsbury book or a new book to read to the kids at night), and lately I have been sorting thru winter clothes for the kids.

We eat lunch around noonish, depending on where C is in his school subjects. We wait til he is at a break between subjects. Lunch is usually hotdogs, popcorn chicken, grilled cheese or leftovers--if there are any. After lunch, C goes to finish school and K and I play or read or do puzzles. K goes to her nap around 2:30 and usually (hopefully) C is done with school by then. He usually watches a movie during her nap time. He doesn’t know it, but he is actually doing “quite time.” I usually go upstairs and exercise and get ready for school the next day. Lately, after all that is done, I have been Scrapbooking—finally!

K gets up from her nap a little before 5 and we sometimes we will have a snack. Dinner is around 6:15 or once Daddy gets home from the gym. After dinner is all cleaned up, we usually sit and watch TV and/or play with the kids. We start our bedtime routine around 8:45 with the kids picking up toys. Then it’s jammies, teeth, and Daddy reads a chapter out of our book (we just finished Charlotte’s Web and I cried when Charlotte died). Then prayers and kisses and off they go! I then sing the “Hallelujah Chorus” as I come down the stairs. Daddy and I watch TV until 11 and then it’s our turn for jammies, teeth and bed.

Mondays are different cuz we go to Wal-Mart and that takes up most of the morning. Tuesdays I used to have my babysitting kids, but that has stopped somewhat. Thursdays I do laundry and Fridays I clean. Monday nights Daddy had softball games, although the last ones were last night (YEAH). Wednesdays we have AWANA which makes for a rushed and late night. Otherwise, I am pretty much a stay-at-home mom all week. Last week I went out Monday morning (Wal-Mart), Wednesday night (AWANA) and Friday night (dinner at Texas Roadhouse) and that was it.

All of this is subject to change depending on our schedule. Right now, potty trips are too numerous to count and that makes for a different day. (By the way, it is still on-going with a little set-back due to the weekend). It will be interesting to look back at this in a year and see what has changed.

Here are some pix from the kids at breakfast this morning. C is eating a college football poptart. He is about to "gobble-up" the yucky Gators. Go FSU!

PS: I must set the record straight. (See comment on this post) My brother informed me that C is not eating a Gator poptart but a Georgia one. I was wrong. I called Daddy and he confirmed the info. Good job brother! (I was told to give him all the credit) But we can still say "Yucky Gators" and "Go FSU!"

Day 2, 3, 4, 5- Are we done yet?

Here is an update on the potty training:

Day 2-Tuesday: She wanted nothing to do with sitting on the potty. I still made her try but got nothing. Daddy did get her to poop that evening, but nothing else. It was a discouraging day.

Day 3-Wednesday: She was a little more interested and peed twice for me and I think once for Daddy before or after church.

Day 4-Thursday: Was a better day. She peed twice for me and wanted to call Aunt when she was done. Aunt just laughed and said she hoped K wanted to call Uncle next. She peed and pooped for Daddy. Wasn't a perfect day but much better.

Day 5-Friday: Even though the day isn't over, it has gone much better. She kept her pull-up dry all morning and peed twice. Then at lunch, she got her pull-up wet. But after lunch she pooped in the potty. Looking good.

Tomorrow should be interesting. Daddy will be home all day. I hope she does well all day to prove my point that Daddy is better at potty training then Mommy. Maybe he will have to stay home from his job until this is conquered.

For those of you that don't want a play-by-play on the potty training (my brother would probably be one)--sorry. Such is my life. Enjoy!

The 'P' word

Well I started potty training K today. I bought a pack of pull-ups at Wal-Mart today---man are they expensive! When we got home I put one on her and kinda explained what it was for and what we were going to do. I then set the timer for 15 minutes and when it went off, I took her potty. She had already peed in it. So much for that. Since it wasn't that wet, I put it back on her and set the timer again for 20 minutes. Sure enough she had peed in it again. By that time it was lunch, so we took a break. After lunch, I put a new one on her and for a little over an hour, every 5 minutes I took her potty. Seriously, every 5 minutes. She never went! By then it was nap time.

Once Daddy got home, I changed her out of her diaper and put another pull-up on. She never went before dinner, so after dinner we started trying again. Daddy took her and guess what? She went! Yeah! A few minutes later, she started running for the bathroom saying "Potty again, Daddy." Sure enough she went again. And she had actually told us before she went and actually went. By the time she went to bed, she had peed in the potty 5 times and pooped twice! A few of the times, she said she had to go, we went in and she actually went. I am excited!

We are going to go at it strong this week. I have no where to go except church Wednesday night. Wouldn't it be nice if I only had to buy this one pack of pull-ups? I would love it! I think once she gets it, she's gonna have it for good. That's just her. I'll keep you posted.

AWANA Carnival

Wednesday night we had our kickoff for our AWANA year. We always have a carnival the first night and the kids are supposed to get registered. This year there was a giant slide for the kids. C stood in line and went down it 9 times! K went down it too--twice I think. A friend took her up and before he could get settled, she was on her way down by herself. She is my dare-devil. She went in the bouncy house too. They also did the dunk tank a few times. K just pushed the button to make him fall in. But she loved the splash cuz she felt some of the water too. We had 166 kids that registered--23 were my Cubbies! That is a high number of Cubbies. If they all come---oh dear! Since I was working registration, Daddy had to register C. When he first walked into Sparkies registration, I thought "He's in the wrong spot. He missed the Cubbies registration." My little C is in Sparkies this year! And my K is in Awanna Beez. (Our church started a program for the 2 year olds-the year before they go to Cubbies). Then last night Daddy said something about K being in Cubbies next year. And I said, "No she has 2 years in Awanna Beez." No she will be 3 next summer-old enough for Cubbies next year. Oh my! My kids are growing up and I can't keep up! Here are my kiddies enjoying the slide.
It seems like I always have a side note on my posts, so "on a side note"
Last night K wanted to sit on the potty and C volunteered to help her. So in they went. He helped her get her shorts and diaper off and helped her up on the potty seat. He came out to get her a book and informed us that she had poopy on her bottom. I said we would deal with it later. He came out for another book later and this time when he went back, she had it all over her hands. YUCK. STINKY. So the kids got an unexpected bath last night. What a night!

Great weekend

We had a great weekend. Saturday we did a little of nothing. Daddy mowed the grass and I did some work around the house. C played playstation. I'm not sure what K did. That evening we went to some friend's house for the NASCAR race. They had invited a few other people too. He has a nice flat screen, hang on the wall, high def TV. Nice. She had made nachos belle grande and toppings. We ate well. The kids played outside in the sprinkler, rode their bikes, had races, had glow sticks (C's did not break this time). He did fireworks too. It was fun. Another late night though. We got home, did baths and the kids went right to bed.

Sunday was normal, except we didn't go to choir practice. I know-naughty. But we wont' be there for the next 2 Sundays. It was nice not to rush back to church.

Monday Daddy had off. It was a comp. day for all the extra time he has been working. We had fun. We had planned to go to the park in the morning, but it rained. We did go bowling at noon. It was fun to bowl with Daddy. C was excited that he won for the kids and Daddy won for the adults. Then Monday evening we went to the baseball park to watch one of our other church teams play. It was nice to have Daddy sitting with us instead of playing. He was able to help with the kiddies. Abut 1/2 thru the second game, K told me "Home, Mommy, Home" So we left. On the way home she said "Potty, Mommy, Potty" So we got home and she sat on the potty. She didn't do anything, but I guess that's another confirmation that I need to start working with her once we get home from vacation. Oh yeah (said very sarcastically)

Now my focus is on K's party Friday night and trying to get ready for our trip. I'm tired just thinking about it. I will check back Friday night and try to post pix and stories from K's party. I just hope she keeps her clothes on.
