So............what's for dessert?

Yesterday I noticed just how many sweets we have in the house right now. Sad. And this isn't even all of it. There are 2 Little Debbie Swiss Cake Rolls that didn't make it in this picture. And there used to be 6 of the Reese's Eggs. And we have a box of Mini chocolate chip muffins--but they are for breakfast. They shouldn't count.

It's a good thing I'm not a snacker or I'd be big as a house! (I have to have my sweet after a meal, but don't really snack other times.)

And just to brag, the Oreo's were free! The Mannings beat the Trumps!

Who wants a cookie?

On Christmas Day, my mom wanted to make Christmas cookies with the kids. She had bought a tube of sugar cookie dough to roll out. First we had to get everything all set up.Then we covered everything, and I mean everything with flour. And then we rolled them out. Then it was time to use the cookie cutters. About half way through cutting out the cookies, C got frustrated with the fact that the cookies kept sticking to the table despite the flour. He came up with the good idea of rolling the dough on the spatula, cutting the cookie right on it and then sliding it on to the pan. What a smart little guy!

While we were working, my grandma "GiGi" supervised.

Once they baked, it was time to put the icing on.

Next came the sprinkles. We caught K licking the top of the sprinkles bottle. I guess that was her version of "decorating."

We let each of the kids lick the knife-usually a "no-no" at home.

Then the best part of all was eating them! As you can tell by the green mouths and tongues. And actually they tasted really good! It was fun but a lot of clean up. Thus the reason it usually only happens when Grandma is around.

C's cooking school

My poor kiddies are going to grow up not knowing how to cook or especially bake (I'm not good at either and don't like to do either). My idea of chocolate chip cookies is to buy the place and bake kind. Once C asked if he could help me make cookies. I said "sure." He said "I want to put them on the pan!" Poor guy.

Funny story about my cookies though. About 5 years ago, I cleaned house for a lady that worked with Daddy. Back then it was just C and me. We would go one day a month and C would spend a few hours in his pack and play while I cleaned. We usually brought a lunch and took a break around noon. One lunch, I brought some of these famous cookies and accidentally left one there. Next day Daddy got "grilled" on how I make my cookies. The husband had found that one cookie and ranted and raved about how good it was. He declared it as good as his grandma's. The wife wasn't too happy when she found out that they were just plain old place and bake cookies. Too funny.

The other day C helped me make brownies--you guessed it--out of the box. We did have to mix in a few ingredients. After we were done he, licked the spoons. Thought you would enjoy the results. Maybe someone will take pity on me and my kiddies and show them how chocolate chip cookies are truly made.
