VBS-The Egypt files

This years VBS curriculum was from Answers in Genesis. I really liked it. I thought it was very well organized and they gave you everything: papers, a skit, teaching info, snack ideas, game ideas, even the design ideas for the face painting. I was impressed.I just had to show you this picture. To start off the entire week, two guys had to open and EAT a banana with their feet. Of course the kids loved it.

And here is my illustrious pastor. Do you recognize him? Every night an offering was collected. If the kids brought in $400 Pastor Monte would get a pie in the face. The kids brought in $500! His son surprised him with a pie on the back of the head while his wife got him in the face. Then she kindly gave him a mowhawk. The kids loved it! So did most of the adults. What a good sport.

Our VBS always starts Sunday afternoon and finishes Thursday night. Three out of the 4 nights I was late to VBS. Monday night I went to sign the kids up for swim lessons (very un-efficient way to sign up, but that's another story). Tuesday my babysitting kids don't leave until at least 6:20. Wednesday C had a game. He played for one hour and then we left. (We still don't know if they won or not). Thursday we were all on time and all got to ride in the same car!

Honey Bee Farm

A friend from another church set up a field trip to a "local" honey bee farm. Not very local for me; it took me at least an hour to get there. I thought the tour was so interesting, but then again, I love honey! I think the kids liked it OK. They at least learned something out of it. We learned about the different types of bees (queen, workers, and drones) and the different types of workers (there are 4). We learned why smoke works to calm them down. We learned that bee keeper suits are NOT "sting-proof." Interesting.

The kids got to make a bees wax candle and I filled up a honey bear. YUMMO. I also bought some honey teryaki marinade. I can eat that stuff straight out of the bottle.
After the tour, we went to a park and ate lunch together. It was hard to get them to eat lunch since the kids only wanted to play on the park. It was a long day but tons of fun.

New bikes: Bike #2

Bike #2: Isn't really a new bike but since DADDY TOOK C'S TRAINING WHEELS OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's kinda like a new bike. Daddy said that before he would take the wheels off C needed elbow pads and knee pads. I found a set at Wal Mart that also included finger-less gloves. So Sunday afternoon, Daddy took his training wheels off. He did really good; much better than I ever thought he would. But Monday--he just took off! He was able to ride the length of 6 houses before crashing, I mean stopping. He was so proud of himself! He just can't get started by himself.

The first video shows day one of his riding attempt. The second video is the 2nd day when he went whizzing on by. And just because, there is a little of K girl riding by too.

New Bikes: Bike #1

Bike #1: This is truly a new bike. K girl got a new bike for her birthday (a few weeks early) thanks to Grandma. She had had one that had been given to us by a neighbor (left over from a garage sale). It worked for about a year. A few weeks ago the seat broke off and was not able to be fixed. So Grandma offered to buy her one for her birthday. So we went and got it the other night from Wal Mart. It's got lots of things going for it: it's purple and it's Hello Kitty. She is so proud of that bike! Memorial Day morning she could not wait to go out and ride it!

Memorial Day Weekend

We had such an awesome Memorial Day weekend! It's always nice to have a long weekend with Daddy home. Friday night we played outside with the kids for a very long time. Saturday we set up the pool-finally. It took quite some time to blow it up and then fill it with water. And man, was that water cold! We played some video games while we were waiting for it to fill up. Then we all sat or splashed in the pool. Saturday evening we did a little shopping (check out the new bike posts to come). Sunday between churches, we let the kids ride bikes (again on the bike posts). Sunday night after church we had a VBS meeting (a forever meeting in case you were wondering). Monday we did some more video games, more bike, more pool. Just had a great time spending time together as a family. Monday evening we celebrated C being done with school (see Chuck E Cheese post in the next few days)

Sad to say we didn't take many pictures all weekend! (except for the bikes--future posts and Chuck E Cheese--future posts) Here is one picture that Daddy took with his phone. Pretty cute kids if I do say so myself.

PS: I have many posts coming up and they are so out of date order. I've been blogging just as I've had time. Therefore the longer posts will be done whenever I have that much time to do them.
