WorldView Ministries annual meeting

This is the second year that Daddy has recored the sessions and WV's annual meeting.  I was not going to be able to go this year.  C was to have his last practice before his big end of the year tourney.  I didn't want him to miss that.  So Daddy took off around 3 pm.  Around 5 pm, practice got cancelled due to the potential of rain.  So C & I made a quick decision; we packed up and headed down (about an hour away) to the meeting (after eating at Popeye's; that boy and his fried chicken).  I am so glad we went!  We had such a great time!  A friend from college was there with her 4 kids.  C spent almost the entire day Friday in the pool with them!  He made some new friends and got to have a good time. I was able to sit in the meetings and really enjoyed them. The focus of this years meeting was prayer.

Photo Bomb from PLo!

My view as C spent some time in the pool.

He cleans the bones!

Our new soccer club

C decided that he wants to be a one sport kid.  And he picked soccer.  Which is fine with me.  I like the one sport idea and I love soccer.  But the last team he was on (fall 2013) was not what we wanted.  Daddy helped to coach, but the main coach didn't work the boys very hard.  C didn't learn much.  So I did some research.  We found a true soccer club (Westside United FC) (side note: some of the Indy 11 players came up through this club) and signed him up to play rec with them in spring of 2014.  I really liked his coach.  The group of boys was a good group and they ended up about middle of rankings.  Funny thing, C knew 3 boys on his team which was nice.  C played goal keeper most of the season.  So much so, that we actually bought him his own gloves.  We are moving into the big leagues!  We now have him signed up for travel soccer starting end of June.  Talk about big leagues.  Whew!  There's a lot to it!  This isn't just "let's go play soccer and have fun!"  This is money and travel and tourneys and practice 3x per week and camps.  I'm excited.  I see potential in him if he just works hard.

Best Friends

C and KJB have been friends for, well a long time.

Sadly, KJB moved to Michigan sometime before Christmas.  The boys talk, face time, text--often.  They crack me up.

After the end of the school year, we were able to plan a weekend for the boys to spend together.  KJB came and spent Friday afternoon until Sunday evening with us.  Then C went with KJB to his house in MI through Tuesday afternoon.  They had a blast!  Did just about anything and everything!

Nice plus to all this, Daddy and I got to spend Sunday evening through Tuesday afternoon--just the 2 of us.  We drove up to Fort Wayne (the half way point where we were going to meet to get C back) and got to go shopping and work out together and eat out.  It was a really nice few days!

Sixth grade?!?!

How can I be old enough to have a 6th grader?  Every year I am in awe with how fast C is growing up.  And his jeans are proving my point--they are all too short!  Thankfully it's warm out now and he can wear shorts.

We had a good school year.  There were bumps.  There were tears.  There were many --  ehem-- discussions.  But I think he did well over all.  Next year should be interesting.  I am teaching EVERYTHING.  No videos to fall back on.  No "go do school."  It's me. And him.  Pray he lives.  Pray I live.  I'm excited and nervous.  (Another reason I'm nervous: only one subject will be A Beka.  eeek!)

Here is 5th-grade-in-a-pile

To celebrate, we went to see the new Captain America movie: the Winter Soldier.
I liked it better than the first Captain America movie.

We also went and got a DQ blizzard in a cone (well Daddy and I did; C just got a regular blizzard).

Patriotic Poster

I remember doing a poster in 5th grade.  I think I got first.  Sadly there are no pictures to remember it by.  Not sure why I decided that C should do this project.  Why do I homeschool?  I can pick what he does and does not do.  Oh well.  It really wasn't that hard and he did a good job.

The planning stages.

Cutting grass.  What a goofy boy!

And the finished project.  I think it turned out really good.  I have him a 96%  I think he could have done more grass in the middle.  But he just wanted to be done.  Now what do we do with it?
