Vacation misc.

Monday night we drove back to GiGi's house.  We were able to meet my very dear friend for dinner.  She and I are always texting, but it was so nice to actually sit and talk!

Here are some misc. vacation pictures that didn't really fit any where else.

We all became very familiar with this map.  We were pretty good on the Metro by the time we left.

C wanted a picture like they did in the olden times--a side profile picture.  Don't think it really worked.

Cracked.  Me.  Up.

My sister wanted 600 of these.  Til she found out they were $6 apiece!

This was how C traveled on the way home.

Vacation part 3

Saturday June 1
We visited the Library of Congress, visited the Smithsonian Castle, went to the Museum of American History, saw the Washington Monument (so disappointed it was under construction!), and went to Union Station.

There are cracks being repaired that were caused by an earthquake in August of 2011!

Isn't the architecture beautiful!

Garden at the Smithsonian Castle

This was a very hard place to take pictures because it was so dark inside.
The original "Star Spangled Banner" was here under special lights--no pictures allowed.

There was a huge Lego display in the lobby of the American History museum

Union Station

Sunday June 2
We visited the Jefferson Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Wall, and the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.

Without the pedestal, I think he was 18 feet tall!

There was a massive number of people at the Lincoln Memorial!

Monday June 3
We toured Ford's Theater and Peterson House.  And visited the Iwo Jima Memorial and took another quick tour through Arlington.

Vacation part 2

Thursday May 30
We drove over to Washington, DC to begin our family vacation.
We visited Arlington National Cemetery, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the Pentagon Memorial.  All amazing and sobering places to see.

Friday May 31
We saw the US Capitol building and the White House.
We visited the Supreme Court and the Old Post Office and the National Archives (I don't have any pictures from there since you can't take pictures of the actual documents)
