Vacation part 3

Saturday June 1
We visited the Library of Congress, visited the Smithsonian Castle, went to the Museum of American History, saw the Washington Monument (so disappointed it was under construction!), and went to Union Station.

There are cracks being repaired that were caused by an earthquake in August of 2011!

Isn't the architecture beautiful!

Garden at the Smithsonian Castle

This was a very hard place to take pictures because it was so dark inside.
The original "Star Spangled Banner" was here under special lights--no pictures allowed.

There was a huge Lego display in the lobby of the American History museum

Union Station

Sunday June 2
We visited the Jefferson Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Wall, and the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.

Without the pedestal, I think he was 18 feet tall!

There was a massive number of people at the Lincoln Memorial!

Monday June 3
We toured Ford's Theater and Peterson House.  And visited the Iwo Jima Memorial and took another quick tour through Arlington.

Vacation part 2

Thursday May 30
We drove over to Washington, DC to begin our family vacation.
We visited Arlington National Cemetery, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the Pentagon Memorial.  All amazing and sobering places to see.

Friday May 31
We saw the US Capitol building and the White House.
We visited the Supreme Court and the Old Post Office and the National Archives (I don't have any pictures from there since you can't take pictures of the actual documents)

Vacation part 1

Our vacation was definitely in stages since we did so much in the 11 days that we were gone.  Hopefully you will be able to figure a lot out from the pictures.  I don't plan on much actual "blogging."
So here goes.

This was on the way to GiGi's Saturday May 25.

Also stopped at a Cabela's.  And met Daddy's brother's family for lunch (I didn't take any pictures and haven't gotten any from them yet)
Everybody has a water buffalo.  Yours is fast but mine is slow.

Sunday May 26.  90th birthday party for GiGi.  So nice to see many friends from the past!

Monday May 27 Hershey, PA

Tuesday May 28 Gettysburg, PA

This bib cracks me up!

Wednesday May 29 Sight and Sound Lancaster, PA
If you ever have a chance to go, it was AMAZING!  We saw Noah.  AMAZING.

Before the production we ate at Shady Maples.  Best buffet ever.  And I was able to buy 50 pounds of flour at their farmers market.  Yes, we drove from PA to IN with 50 pounds of flour in the back seat.

to be continued.......
